First thanks for allowing me to join the group. I recently purchased this gen 2 MM version used. No box or paperwork that came originally. Being new to this particular firearm I have a question(s). On the mag release it's stamped M&P......does that mean only those mags or will others fit properly that are designated for the multi mag model?

If it comes with M&P mags then that is probably all you should use. I'm not as versed on the Gen 2 as I am on the Gen 1 and original Sub 9, but I believe the Multi-mag version simply means you can interchange for a variety of magazines with a mag catch swap to match your handgun. Versus a Glock version which can ONLY be a Glock version unless you order replacement grip halves for a different version. The primary difference being the 11 degree grip angle on most popular handguns vs the 22 degree angle the Glocks use and the magazines notches/catches only varying by the location of the notch in the magazine in relation to the base plate.
