Extra leverage on bullpup pump with a plastic forend rail...what could possibly go wrong? ;)
Even with two connection points, yes, do the safety rail!
Thanks for replying. I'm thinking the same thing. I was reading another post about the plastic rail failing. Someone from Kel Tec responded and said that the rail was going to be strengthened but the post was in 2012 and I never found out if it was done. A small piece of metal will give me a little more peace of mind.

They DID strengthen the entire fore end plastic. Dunno the date, but it was generally the unofficial "Gen2" production, so all current KSG ought to have it.

Personally thoughts..... Any vertical grip can take a lot of abuse on a harder kicking shoulder fired gun. You need to be keenly aware that the tendency is to counter the recoil with the vertical grip, whereas the firer ought to be pulling backward on that grip, pulling the gun to their shoulder. Just my 2c worth.

Ket Tec made some major changes to the front rail/fore end area 2-3 years ago. Pics are posted somewhere here. They added a bunch of heavy internal "ribs" to give the fore end more strength and stabilty.

This seems to have solved the problems.

So does that mean the extra rail isn't necessary? The installs of the Magpul RVG on the KSGs on YouTube show people not using an extra rail but I just want to make sure.

No problems with my Gen 2 and Magpul VFG! I don't drink alcohol and am old so I'm not trying to show off just how fast I can rack the thing.....works for me! But when in doubt, get the rail.

I have the latest generation with the strengthened rail but since I use my KSG for 3-Gun Matches and rack that slide very fast with authority, I added the aluminum rail from Hitech. The cost was minimal compared to the extra safety I receive from the rail.

I made this using a hi-tech lower pic rail and a strike industries mlock fore grip.

I shoot all the time.
Yes. If you hold a weak palm grip the recoil bounces into your pointing finger knuckle. I have been bitten by it a few times. I However. Smash and scrape my knuckles daily at work so i am not worried about it.

I wrappled electrical tape and grip tape around both knobs. And I usually hold the rear like a low profile pistol grip and i do just fine with it. The reason for the second grip is to put on for others to shoot. Who are not similarly as strong as i am towards the bite or grip to hold thru the recoil.

I have used the strike industries plate racking the gun off tree branches as a rest as well as car doors. It also creates a solid point to brace the gun against from shooting behind cover. Or stands. And because its low profile i don't feel i will snag it as much as a VPG.

You want one? I'll put another one together for you. I was trying to decide if i wanted to just machine my own design with the pic-rail already with it rather then tig welding two products together. The strike fore-grip is mlock. And the hitech is pic-rail to pic-rail so i just ground down all the pic knobs and the mlock knobs and tig'd them together.

I didn't find the trinity grip until after i built the one.

As you very well know the recoil on the KSG is stout and if you hold a loose front palm grip it does bite your front knuckle without the tape. And i did split my knuckle that one time after a box of slugs before i said to myself. "Oh yeah i was going to tape it" haven't had an issue from there. But. The grip was designed for a AR15. And i am thinking of trading it over to mine when i build the new one. Using the trinity grip.

Cool. I looked at that strike force for an AR build. Because it has that skeletal look like my 17" forend. It has M-LOC. But I think some bling like your Afg would tie into my spiral fluted stainless barrel a lot better.

I tried the Keltec AFG on my KSG, but I did not like the ergonomics. I like it without a grip, but currently it is sporting a stubby vertical grip.
