I picked up a 1st gen Sub2000, .40 Glock if it matters. After buying it I noticed the front sight blade is very loose, and will sometimes drop very low. First pic is as low as it'll go, second pic is with it all the way up. The screw is tight. Is something broken, or am I missing something?

Thanks for any help.

It also has a side mount for a red dot but I need to figure out something that still lets the gun fold. Wish I'd found a 2nd gen but any Sub2000 is hard to find here.

Looks like all the parts are there. The tension on the blade is done by the 2 larger side pieces with a 1/4" allen wrench. The screw in the center is only there to cinch them up after adjustment. There is a front sight adjustment tutorial in the FAQ.

Not so much related to adjusting but maybe related to this... with it snugged up, the sight blade is very crooked. I pulled the clip off for this picture, not sure what the clip is for. Is this normal?

Probably not really abnormal since the parts are plastic. It's the location of the top of the blade that's important. And the metal clip is to keep the blade from falling out of the sight tower if it is loose. By the way, you can over tighten those 2 side screws and crack the blade. Just snug them up against each other to hold it in place.

Could be someone cross threaded the set screws.
Those are just plastic threads. Try taking them out and reinstall making sure it is square. Or order some metal replacements. Or you can replace the whole front sight assembly. There are several options here, but i recommend the Red Lion.

You can replace the set screws and use the high visibility sight post. I think tandem cross makes them. I think I got mine from twisted industries. Look on line. They also make a metal sight post with a fiber optic on top.
