Cant answer the first question but as for the second I went with modified choke. Seemed to provide best of both worlds. Really tightens up shot spread an still ok with shooting slugs regularly.
thks. I need to do a trip up to keltec next week to see about the new version carry handle and will pick up a choke adapter while i'm up there. New handle (for KS7) is supposed to have a higher rear sight they think may take care of my very low POI issue

how does your KS7 handle sight work? Mine(and i have used 2 handles ) shoots about 12"low at 20 yds with a3"buul resting on the tip of the front sight, 6"low with the bull behind the triangle. the tech up there showed it to the engineer and trying the new carry handle was all he could suggest. i did get a rail from them to try but the keltec version is so short it doesn't lend itself to a ghost ring rear sight set-up

if the new handle doesn't correct, i plan to do my own ghost ring rear sight and just install it in the channel at the appropriate height. Have already tested it with quick piece of tube and the concept works and i like the sight picture. much faster than the post to aquire

no reason it shouldn't, but there is no adjustment on the handle sights so you have to make your own. elevation can be done, but windage required i mill out the front mounting point and kind of bent the whole handle.
The solution is a rail with a red dot, but i want to avoid batteries and the only rail that extends far enough to the rear for an iron sight is the Hitech one and it's $100! why keltec make one like that instead of just reusing the KSG one.... May sell the keltec one to finance the Hitech one if the new version handle doesn't work out

what i was told is that the rear sight will be higher, making it easier to get a good sight picture and cheek weld. All they knew on schedule was they expected to start receiving some this week. I'll call and go up when they say they have some.
currently, i am just playing with a home made ghost ring which should move my POI up near where it should be. it is so easy to make one, either a bit of pipe, or a "L" shaped piece of metal with a hole drilled in it. in retrospect, the "L" would work best because you could secure it with a couple of screws and easily adjust height either with the bend or a couple washers under it.

Any updates on the new handle/sight?

when i did the next trip there was no news about it and as i had worked out my ghost ring i let it drop. it is a REAL pain getting those nuts tight and at the same time aligning the front sight. they should have milled a slot or a flat for aligning it correctly instead of the glob of glue. It tool multiple range trips until i got a satisfactory alignment

Thanks for this description and pictures, I'm thinking about doing this myself.
some minor questions:
  • It looks like you didn't have file past ridges of cap? The close-up picture shows the rear of cap better than front, where it appears you may have filed at a slight angle.
  • Are you doing anything to protect the filed section of magazine tube cap?
  • Did you use the Keltec choke adaptor for any particular reason? Instead of HiTech or Mcarbo adaptors?

    Cheers,

Yep the ridges of the cap get filed down to accommodate the width of the choke extension.
It's an illusion in the pic because I took my time and only allow for enough room for the choke to screw on without inference. I'd say about same as cylinder gap on revolver.

Yes, I liked the kel tec choke adaptor better than the high tech.

I hated the factory sight, it was just too low, but I like the carry handle so I raised it up using a AR-15 carry handle rail and went with a red dot with shake-awake so it’s always ready to go. Factory sight is still visible/usable also. Also notice the mlok QD sling swivel mounts too. Works well for me but to each it’s own.

I don't know if Nebraska did get the KSG adapter but he did say he hasn't received his KS7 yet.

The clearance problem is in the design of the KSG vs the KS7. Both mag tubes on the KSG are set to the side of the barrel on the KSG while the mag tube on the KS7 is directly below the barrel on the KS7. This makes the mag tube of the KS7 a little closer to the barrel than the mag tubes on the KSG. Any KS7 accessory will have a smaller diameter at th muzzle threads than the same KSG accessory. While the choke adapter will fit the KSG clearing the mag tubes, the adapter will/may hit the mag tube and cap of the KS7 preventing installation.

The adapter that M*CARBO has proposed will move the thread portion of the barrel forward away from the mag cap so any KSG/KS7 accessory will fit the KS7 with a minimum of additional length added. M*CARBO is looking for interest in the adapter to see if it is warranted to produce. I have not yet heard back from Hi-Tech.

You will really turn some heads if you go trap shooting with the KS7. lol.
I recently installed a M*CARBO KSG adapter onto my KS7. I had to Dremel about 1/8" of metal from a small spot on the mag capt make clearance for the adapter. Adds an overall 2ish inches. Almost unnoticeable in all seriousness. If you already have a muzzle brake and replace it, probably up to an inch of added length. I definitely find it worth it. I have Remington choke adapters on the way. I plan on using it as an all around shotgun depending on what choke/rifling insert.
The issues I ran into when installing were, of course, map cap clearance. As well as the wrench that was sent with it broke while I was torquing it on. Mind you I've been a mechanic 20+ years and have broken multiple kinds of wrenches. But it did fit on there real snug-like and i doubt it will be coming of due to shooting anytime soon. Either way i wanna buy a better wrench so i can swap inserts on the fly without loosening it on accident

New member and new KS7 owner here.

I'm interested in fitting a choke adaptor to the KS7.

My question, which adaptor, ( the Kel Tech model or the M*CARBO model) do you feel is the better and why?

Thanks so much.

(FYI: I contacted Kel Tec by phone.
Kel Tec rep said they would "probably/maybe/eventually/don't know when", make available a choke adapter for the KS7.)
