Ok, who knows anything?

What parts are reinforced and what did they do for a smoother action? I am wondering how I can upgrade.....

This must be a record. I got the email from Kel-Tec announcing the new and improved KS7 and THREE minutes later it's on KTOG. Nice!

I like the funky grab handle on top of my early KS7 but the Picatinny rail on top is more practical with most people preferring modern optics, and the short VFG mounting rail on the forend is a handy feature too.

I'd like to know what parts were beefed up internally, but telling us would be an admission that the original was not all it could be.

I wonder if Kel-Tec could/would do the upgrades to make a Gen 1 into a Gen 2.

I'm happy with my 2.
One trimmed out with pic rail optic and other mods, and the other essentially out of the box space handled other than TMP pad and tac-light. They both run well.
Took the HT vert grip off the loaded one as it added too much additional weight to an already accessorized KS7.
glad to see the new forend to allow for a much lighter VG setup
I have 2 410s and 2 NR/Compacts as well.
All 6 run smooth. Only one (KS7) has been back and it was sorted out with quick turnaround.
All have been broken down and "detailed"

Seems that Kel-Tec listens.
The standard rail is probably a better option for most users, and the ability to install a VFG is just smart.

There's something changed on the rear of the op handle, looks like a design for the bolt carrier similar to the KSG.
It looks like the changes are only in the front end, so I don't see any major changes in the action or trigger group.
At a minimum you'd need a complete new pump handle assembly and a new bolt carrier, which might be the same part as a KSG.

The rail is a drop in upgrade they've offered for some time.
I wonder what the other upgrades are and whether an older gun could be upgraded or if the new design is gun-specific and older guns can't use them.
I'd like to hear what the changes are.

Don't expect a semi auto version of the ksg or ks7 any time soon. Even Ithaca couldn't make a semi auto version of the 37 work, so they used a different system for the SKB that involved right side eject. Both the ksg and ks7 use a similar action to the Ithaca 37, so you're looking at a complete redesign to accommodate a semi auto action. Not putting it past George and crew to come up with some crazy idea that creates the first downward ejecting semi auto bullpup shotgun, but that's going to take a lot of cocaine. But I'm sure they'll probably find plenty of beta testers once it hits the market.
