Hi, started on a new project, I want to make a kel tec p11 shoot 380 cap using the same mags and frame?
What do you think any interest in something like that? Sccy just came out with their new cpx3 in 380 cap so why not a p380? I think its doable

You can fire a 380 in a 9mm. It just won't cycle most of them. All you really have to do is make sure it loads reliably (most will) and weaken the recoil spring. After doing that, congratulations, you can now shoot ammo that costs twice as much.

You can also just load light 9mms and drop the recoil spring to match, if trying to tame recoil or something, but full power 9mm will beat it up after that.

There are some nice double stack 380s out there... I thought bersa had one, and a Russian Makarov commercial variety is 380, and the later cz 83 is excellent, to name a few.

But that's not the point, the point is to have a gun that can fire more than one caliber, like having a slide and barrel assembly for the p40, so that the gun becomes multi caliber. But by you thinking why do that because 40 sw is more expensive, Ammo doesn't matter to me because I reload all hand gun calibers, so it's always cheap to shoot anything I want. I was simply asking if anyone thought a double stack 380 p11 would be cool or if anyone had tried to do something like that yet

I told you how you might do it, without the expense of getting a custom slide and barrel. I think it would work (Ive shot 380s in 9s before, as a single shot, it works fine). I think it would be a cheap and fun project to try. Fun is a valid reason to try things, even if they are generally of no practical value. On the plus side reloaded 380 is less than 9mm, its buyers who would be losing out a lot to buy factory 380s. But there again, if you reload, you can also convert it to a 9mm -P- (380 in a 9 case). That seems like a better practical answer (lower recoil gun) to me, apart from the "just saying I did it" factor, because it will load and seat the bullets better. The 380s hang off the extractor, and that works in some 9s, and it does not in others.

Pretty sure that Kel-Tec sells a .380 version of the P11 outside the US. If that's the case they should have the correct recoil spring and know what mag works. Call them.
This supposedly happened a long long time ago. In the early days of the P-11. Very limited run of never pinned down amount of pistols were shipped. I've never even seen a picture of one.

It may just be a rumor.

*Edited to add*

I find a reference to a .380 version of the P-11 being sold in South America...possibly Brazil. Many years ago.

Well here's what my idea is, cobra enterprise's makes a patriot 380 that's the same size as the p11, so I bought a 380 barrel from them. Got it home and......... Nope it did not fit, surprise surprise, but its a nice looking stainless barrel, I does not have the notch in the barrel, and that notch is there to give the barrel enough clearance to set in the slide. So being the hands on guy I think I am, I set out to custom fit it in the slide with just my basic shop tools. Some files, drill less and a grinder. It does now fit, I just need to smooth it out to make it look better. I just have to upload some pics.

The REALLY fun part will be modifying the magazine to fit .380.
