Could I get some tips on what hollow points work in a p11, I bought 2 boxes of critical defense and they seemed to feed fine before I cleaned my gun. After I striped my gun and did a good cleaning(my gun was really dirty too) I put a mag in with critical defense and tried to rack the slide and now the first round of the hp's are hanging on the feed ramp. Its not a mag issue I have 3 and its all the same. FMJ's still feed great but with the hp's if I rack the slide it gets caught, a little force feeds it. The little rubber piece on the critical defense hp's seem to be snagging the bottom of the feed ramp. I'm worried about reliability of the hp's feeding in a critical situation. Any tips or ideas would be very grateful.

The Hornady "Critical" JHPs--what's their name, Flexlock?--have a really sharp
squared-off edge on the jacketing around the rubber plug. I saw that edge repeatedly catch and cause misfeeds on a Diamondback DB9 (avoid, unless you enjoy a pistol that spends more time at factory for broken parts, than in your
possession).

The combination of snaggy jacket edge, rubbery plug and mild power compared to other SD rounds don't appeal to me.

I've had 100% reliability with 115 gr Speer Gold Dots and Federal 9BP/HiShok in
P-11 and PF-9.

Thanks for the reply, I did go buy some speer gold dot 115 grain jhp and I am still getting the same thing, Have you polished your feed ramp? That's the one thing I think needs to be done on my gun. And should I do that?

It never hurts. 400 grit, in the direction of bullet travel. You can go finer after that, some even get it to a mirror polish with jeweler's rouge or similar stuff, but that is not needed.

Nope...the P-11 was used and the PF-9 has had two or three barrels in it, and I did nothing to any of them, and feeding was no problem.

Are you by chance not letting the slide slam home freely, when you load that first round?

No It will not freely slam, when I put a magazine in with hollow points and I rack it the hollow point gets caught on the feeding ramp. I did look closely at the feeding ramp and I did find a small bur or machine mark I believe is causeing the hollow point malfunction, so the next thing I believe is a polish

I use a dremel tool with the tapered pad and a little jeweler's rouge to polish the ramp & the chamber, it give a nice, mirror finish. I've never had any brand of ammo hang up in my P11 or my P3AT.

Thanks for all the advise- I striped my gun down and on the barrel feed ramp I used some 600 grit automotive sandpaper going up and down over the high spot till it was gone and then some Mothers Mag&Aluminum polish over the whole ramp to give it a mirror shine. Now my gun feeds hollow points perfectly.

My Taurus G2 PT111 will not even chamber a Hornady CD. Be sure to slingshot rather than ride the slide when clambering and see if it helps. With my Taurus, it just isn't going in there, and it feeds everything else fine. I've seen folks report the same issue with the .380 cd in a Glock 42.

CD is weakish and might not be throwing the slide all the way back. I like the bullet design but this could be the issue. Its a solid 100-200 fps lower than many other brands and 300-400 lower than +P out of a p-11 sized barrel. I think it would work in a well broken in p11, but a new one might struggle (and new means # rounds fired not age).
