So I just blew a bunch of money on a 9mm s2k.
I didn't want to wait around for a glock version, knowing that people say these s2k's can be tough to get. So I blew my money and took what they had, an m&p model. I don't own a glock, or any of the other compatible stuff, just got a shield, so I'd have to buy magazines regardless.

I was under the impression that my P-11 mags would fit this, until I saw the 17 round mag in the box, so no go on that, still only have 1 usable mag.

I've been searching the net AS WELL as this forum pretty extensively and am still confused about what mags will work with no issues. I've just been searching for "5900 S&W mags" anyone have any SPECIFICS I can type in, add to cart, purchase and not have to question, "is this thing gonna work or did I just blow my money?"

Along with that, since you can change out what mags work with a part, what would be the best version to go with, as far as mag availability, cost, whatever?
M&P, Sig, or Berretta?

I appreciate any help/tips/criticism.

First, I have posted about this before so forgive me if you already have read about this.

I picked up a Gen 2 that is set up for the S&W M&P magazine. Its a nice mag, 17 rounds and all but I don't have an M&P but do have bags of other mags from other firearms so I ordered up the raptors for a few of what I have. The adapters are a simple swap, they even give you the Allen wrench to do it and it takes like a minute or two. The parts are something like $ 12.33 or something. When I did my order I just got both a S&W 59 series and a Beretta 92 Series adapter. What with paying postage it was only a couple of bucks to just get both.

If you plan on buying more mags then the Beretta 92 is a safe bet as they are easy to get and affordable. As you may know the US Military has used them for years and there are millions of magazine on the cheap out there. Also there is a 30 round model that Beretta makes. I like the 18 round MecGar as it fits neatly up in the grip without sticking out and you can find them on sale for good prices.

You have the "Multi-Mag" model and for me its the best as it can be made to fit so many other magazines with just a simple cheap part from KT. Also, if someone really just has to have a Glock (and I have no idea why they would :) ) you can even buy a new hand grip for $50 and change the rifle over to Glock.

I think a lot of people don't realize you can do this. They wait for months and pay extra for a Glock model when they could pick up a Multi-Mag and be GTG faster and maybe even cheaper in the end.

If you have any questions about any of this just shoot me an IM or email, whatever. I am not an "expert" but have owned five of these from all three generations and have managed to get by OK with them.

Very nice, I appreciate that, I'll be looking into the beretta mags.
I found a 32 round pro mag online, and since the gun came with a pro mag I figured I'd get it. 25 bucks didn't seem too bad. Hope it works. I'll be getting some adapters I'm sure.

Started sweating not waiting for the glock version, as the local gun shop has NO compatible mags for the gun i bought, but a trillion glock mags. Maybe they were just out.
Probably better this way to slow down, already blew 480, woulda probably dropped another hundred if it was the glock version.
I'd be happy to get a few more of the stock 17 round mags, pretty good capacity, and they sit flush.

Great info about swapping the glock handle as an option. But since I don't own any of these other guns, once I get a hand full of whatever mag, I'll be content.

Thanks again.

Figured it's just waaay too short. Have nothing to grip onto, that's what she said.

What about putting a drill bit through the rear sight? Anyone ever do that? I see that one company offers a replacement sight where the rear hole is bigger, ayoooooo...

Could one not just enlarge the stock one?

Sheesh, lot of innuendo stuff here.

Mine's the Beretta version, already had 15s, 17s, and 30s for my Storm carbine. There's also 20 round mags that are just slightly bigger than the 15s.

Don't Smith 59 mags run in a p11? If you want to share mags that's an option, but when I had a Beretta 92 pistol and Storm carbine I never had any need to share mags.

I'm not sure what the surplus 15 round M9/92 mags go for these days, I bought a few for 10 bucks at a local show but new factory 15s are usually found online for $15.

Yea, rear sight hole can be drilled easily, just don't bend the rear sight or open it up too much. There's a nice aftermarket aluminum replacement but it's pricey. I saw a rear that had the top cut off at 10 and 2 o'clock making it an open notch.

I like the aperture of the rear sight. For me, the gun feels "right" with my cheek solid against the stock/receiver and my head forward so I can feel the collar against my cheek. So my eye is pretty close to the rear sight when I shoot.

I can see if you are more comfortable with your head back from the above position that the aperture would be too small. It would be easy to drill out with increasingly larger drill bits until you got it so that it is comfortable for you.

Edit:
Now, I am just thinking out loud, I have not seen this done on an S2K: For an "adjustable" rear aperture, you could drill it out and tap the rear sight for an over sized allen screw. Then drill center holes in a number of allen screws of various sizes depending on your tastes / lighting conditions. Without the allen screw in the sight it is a ghost ring sight. For fine work, screw in a smaller aperture.
