I'm looking for a recoil absorbing butt-pad for my sub-2000.

Maybe I'm just a huge puss, or it's just the way that I shoot or hold it, but I find the recoil of the little 9mm after 100 rounds or so to be a touch uncomfortable.

Does any such aftermarket product exist?

Aside from the KelTec stock extension, to my limited knowledge no aftermarket butt pad exists.

Several innovative Sub2000 owners have used materials ranging from rubber sandals (flip-flops) to the rubber comfort pads from crutches to cushion their shoulders from recoil. If I recall correctly, there were quite a few pictures of these in the now-lost, older version of the Sub porn pics thread. Sadly, they're gone.

Good luck.

Not a specific to the Sub soft pad. But the Kel-tec stock extension does have a more forgiving rounded profile that is easier on the shoulder. I can also tell you this may be an indication you are not pulling it in tight enough to your shoulder, allowing it to thump you a little more than it normally might. I say this from personal experience.

As far as I'm concerned, the stock extension is necessity for the Sub x series. I darn near had to fold myself into halves to hunker over my Sub 9 and look down the sights.

Once you pick up the extension, you can jury rig all sorts of foam/cushion/padding on the butt, on top of pulling the gun up a little tighter to your shoulder.

What 2wb said.

Like everything Kel-Tec makes, their stock extension is often back ordered and can be difficult to find. It's worth the search. It also adds a much needed 1" to the length of pull without adding to the folded length, and it centers the front sight for more reliable folding.

Sometimes it shows as out of stock on Kel-Tec's online store but they're actually in stock. The best time to call Kel-Tec seems to be 9 AM EST.

People occasionally buy them from Kel-Tec and resell them at twice the price on eBay or GunBroker if you're in a hurry and don't mind paying $10 to $12 more.

Good luck!

I recently purchased the stock extension from an amazon retailer. I am sending it back. It fits the stock very poorly, and makes the LOP too long for my liking. The factory length Sub 2000 has the exact same length of pull as the preferred spot on my AR platform guns, one hole in from fully extended.

Darthpaul,

I thought I had seen every post submitted for the Sub2000 since I joined. For the life of me, I don't remember ever having seen that one!

That is ingenious! It looks very good, too!

[Note to self: Add "grout float" to materials used in making Sub2000 recoil pads.]

I use what is called a "Limbsaver" on my subby, I bought mine at Wallyworld. I think they are made by Remington. It slides on with a little tugging, and is easy to remove for gun cleaning. I use the small size.

Ordered on about an hour ago. Had a discount code that was about to expire and it took my total to $17.56 with free shipping. I saw a video review of this and it’s easy to slip on and stays secure.

I just ordered one from Amazon. It was $21.95 with free shipping. Missouri tactical has it listed for $21.95 also and I didn't check to see if there was a shipping charge. They are selling them thru Amazon or direct. I don't feel that the Sub2k really needs a recoil pad but it will be much more comfortable shouldering and I won't have to move the pinned buttstock to get a little more length. Win-win.

Mine will be here Monday and was $17.95 shipped, used that code MOONDOG from one of the other posts on their page and was an even bigger discount.
