How do I keep the action open?

Just got a P3AT and am looking forward to taking it out.

The rules for the range I am going to start going to state - "When firearms are not being used they
are to be left with action open or the cylinder out." At orientation, they said you could buy something to hold the slide open.

Anyone have a clue what I need to get?

    Thanks in advance!

A bic lighter and/or a full size rubber eraser have both been used successfully.

Keep a spent brass... Don't even think about finding one you just shot. They can not be found ;)

I just noticed that as a range requirement for the Barrett test range (TV show), insert a spent case after checking chamber.

Just take an empty round and put it in between the breechface and barrel hood, Kind like a jam

A pen works well, and you can mark your targets with it ;)

I just tried...You better practice before the range, to get a way that controls the muzzle direction and not a struggle to perform

from the shooting hold, keeping the muzzle down range, I rotate wrist to put the grip in the center of my palm, my first finger is above the barrel, index on the trigger guard.

Pull tje slide back, then use first finger to grip the exposed barrel and hold the slide back.

Iused a speent 223 case. I would be careful not to damage the extractor.

Kind of hard to do at first, but got fairly easy with a little practice
