Is this ammunition prone to rimlock on newer P32's?

If it's shorter than a round nose fmj than yes, it can be prone to rimlock. That's a big reason why a lot of us just carry round nose fmj. Plus, most JHPs in 32acp are pretty mediocre performers, either they expand or penetrate but I've yet to see one do both.

So, if I carry one rd of xtp loaded and just one more rd as the top rd in the magazine, rimlock can't occur?

This is the first caliber I've ever heard of this happening. I understand the technical reason; however, it seems to be fairly rare.

Yes, some guys will have a jhp in the chamber and on top of the mag, followed by fmj. Rimlock does happen, it happened to me with gold dots. It was so bad I had to disassemble the mag to fix it. It's not something I would risk again.

I've been shooting the Fiocchi brand 60 XTP for a few years. Also handload my own. The OAL length of the Fiocchi XTP factory round is sufficient to prevent rimlock. The Hornady factory ammo is loaded a bit shorter.

My P32 currently has a Hornady 60-grain XTP in the chamber, followed by seven Remington 71-grain FMJs in the magazine.

Yes it will definitely rimlock on you. Luckily I figured that out at the range. So I do what everyone else does a xtp in the pipe and ball in the mag.
