Since I had my first SU16B in 2006/7, I have used a hitch pin to replace the little, very losable, non-captive takedown pin. I had a spare still to put in my new SU16B, but it just looked a little wrong, the ring being silver. I looked around for a black ring, but couldn't find one.

I was digging through one of my gun parts junk boxes, and found a M67 frag grenade pin and ring left over from when I was in a USAF Security Police unit in the early 80s. I had to drill out the hole in the hitch pin, but I replaced the silver ring with the ring from the grenade pin. It OD instead of black, but it has a certain class to it.

Pics tomorrow.

Been using those rings for key rings since the late 1960's!

LOL!:) I have this one from the day we spent at the grenade range at Camp Bonnieville WA. It was the same day we use two claymores to mak one big boulder into little rocks! That was also the first day I had the new fangled MREs instead of C rats. I actually like the C rats with cigarettes in them we had in the early 70s when I was active Army. Gotta love pound cake!
