Wood Machine tool Steel Tool Metal

Please see a photo of the selector with a red colored pointer I painted onto the photo that points to a conical shaped metal pin-like structure that is blocking the selector from switching to the other magazine tube to fill.

Is this conical structure have some kind of function? It appears to look like the conical shape may suppose to depress down to allow the selector to be moved over to load the other mag tube.

Am I misunderstanding what this small conical pin-like structure is present for? Is this conical pin-like thing suppose to depress down to allow selector to select other mag tube? If so what must occur to get it to depress so the selector can slide over it to switch mag-tubes?

Thanks!

It's a spring loaded plunger to hold the selector lever in place when you select the right, left, or center position.
So do I just push the selector toward the plunger and it will depress the plunger as the selector rides over the plunger?

Right now the plunger is preventing the selector from moving at all. When the selector comes into contact with the plunger, the plunger is not depressing at all.

UPDATE - I put some silicon on the plunger and under the selector and the selector was finally able to push the plunger down.

Thanks for your help! :)
