so i'm having these problems that are about to push me over the edge. santa arrived with the anticipated mini mill, so after having fabricated a steel clone of the plastic mag catch it was time for reassembly. while i was at it i was planning to also insert the updated hammer block that keltec had sent me awhile back.

the good news is that the catch went in without a hitch and is working great. however...

1) while installing the hammer block into the grip was fairly easy thanks to the tips on this site, i simply cannot get the new hammer block to function in the gun. i push the hammer block forward with a thin screwdriver while seating the receiver in the grip, holding the hammer backwards with my thumb. the receiver lines up nicely and the hammer and the hammer block seem to connect properly with the hammer at about a 45 degree angle. however, when i pull the trigger while "simulating" an engaged hammer spring by pushing the hammer forward with my finger, the hammer moves backwards until it breaks, then travel forwards until it reaches the 45 degree angle position where it suddenly locks up! granted that i have not tried to actually install the hammer spring and slide to verify the problem, but i just cant see how the hammer would be able to strike the firing pin when it locks up that early. when i install the original hammer block all is good and the hammer moves *much* further - far enough to hit the firing pin. does anyone knwo what i could be missing?

2) after giving up on the new hammer block i put the gun back together with the original hammer block and tested it. at first all seemed good but after awhile i'd notice that occasionally the trigger would not break - i'd pull it so far back that it would contact the grip, but still not break. since then this problems seem to have gotten worse. some googleing has indicated that this can be due to the pin inside the trigger being loose. i've tried pushing on the pin witht the my finger nail but it doesnt seem to move. just how much force is typically needed if it has worked itself loose? any other known causes of this problem?

Ok, so taking the gun apart and tapping the pin back up fixed problem #2, but i am still at a loss regarding the new hammer block. I install it exactly the same as the old hammer block, but after the trigger breaks and the hammer starts travling forward, the block firmly arrests the hammer in the neutral position, before is has a chance to strike the firing pin. When i put the original hammer block back in everything works normal.

Has anyone else swapped out the old hammer block for the new design? The hammer block is the ONLY component that one need to swap out, correct?

Update #2: the hammer block issue turned out to be a case of invalid testing procedures. When the hammer is let forward slowly, like how i tested it, the new block design arrests it whereas the old one does not. However, when the hammer travels forward at normal speed the hammer is not arrested. I.e. All this time i was applying an incorrect test to a properly assembled and functioning pistol. Doh!  :)

On a side note, while i was at it i machined a couple of extra steel catches. .... I'll post some pictures shortly
