I saw that P3ATs were prone to cracked grips at one time.

I just purchased a used one, and it looks to be in decent condition, but has a crack from the front frame pin that extends about 3/8" to the trigger area. The frame itself appears fine.

Is this gun safe to shoot?

Is this a serious enough defect that Kel-tec will replace it?

Should I order a set of recoil springs as well? It seems that weak recoil springs could contribute to grip cracking.

Thanks

Call KT. You should be able to get a warentee replacement. Just do not tell them that you are not the original owner... they will not ask.

no, you can not get a replacement frame (e.g. the part with the serial # on it, that IS the firearm)

but a grip, that is a warranty replacement.

SO IS THE FRAME, BUT THEY HAVE TO PUT THE SERIAL # ON A NEW FRAME.

Both of you, call KT service. They will ship you a new grip. Yes, that part is called the grip. The frame is the aluminum block that is pinned inside the polymer grip.

When you ask about the grip, also ask for replacement frame pins just in case they get messed up during the repair.
