Gen II Trigger - it's craptastic.

Am I the only one that believes the factory trigger is craptastic?

The only Sub-2000 that I have ever handled is the black Gen II that I picked up in a recent trade, so I have no idea what others look & feel like my hands. -- I will say that it's a cool gun, but you already knew that, and I am intrigued by it's design & use of materials. I say this having not fired a single shot from her. --- The #1 reason I haven't shot it yet is it's nasty trigger & the material Kel-Tec used for it. The bottom of my trigger comes to a rounded sharp chisel like point. Even a squirt gun comes with a more comfortable trigger! -- The shape of the trigger is all wrong, it needs to be longer, flatter, wider & smoother... more user friendly. Anyway, I guess it functions OK, but it's painful for me to pull. I think the pictures illustrate why I hate this trigger.

UPDATE: It's no longer craptastic! :D

You might try moving the pad of your finger up on the curved part of the trigger. I agree it isn't the best trigger, but it does function, and can easily be slightly modified for more comfort, and at little or no cost. I see that you have enough posts to access the Trading Post. If you dislike it enough that you won't shoot it, put it up for sale.

Work around & aftermarket solutions are fine, but it seems like it would be an easy issue for the KT factory to address during assembly. You have to admit that the trigger is kind of important... Are the triggers on Gen 1 Sub-2000 just as bad?

Selling it is not an option at this time - maybe after I've given it a fighting chance, but not now.

I'll replace the trigger with an aftermarket solution if I must, but it would be nice if I didn't have to.

I believe they both use the very same trigger.

I just heated mine up with a cig lighter a bit...and straightened it out a little. Mucho better.

I read so much about the "bad trigger" beforehand that I was pleasantly surprised once I received my Sub2K and starting shooting it. My cheek has taken a beating which I hope to remedy with a Tacticool sleeve but my trigger fingers were fine throughout the 200 round run-in. In fact, I would go so far as to say my Sub2K trigger seems better than my stock G19's. This may change, of course, but I believe the distraction of the action right next to my face caused me to forget all about any trigger shortcomings.

Needless to say, hand size and trigger finger diameter make a big difference. I have medium sized hands for a man.

I have to admit that one of the first things I did to mine was get some sandpaper after that trigger.
Sanding helps, but I still contend that it shouldn't even be an issue...
I guess fluffing, buffing, sanding, and working out the bugs is all part of owning a KT gun.

Thanks :)

Probably one of the worst triggers i have ever had. On a slow pull it is awful! On a swift pul it isnt as bad. Not sure why Kel-Tec has not addresses this issue in the Gen 2. On top off that, it's a difficult trigger change out procedure.

With all that being said, It is one of my favotite firearms to shoot.

Sharp, never noticed, uncomfortable never noticed. What bugs me is the mushy lack of consistency. Never really know when it's going to let go from shot to shot. Kinda reminds me of a dart gun I had as a kid except the dart guns trigger was much better:D
My spring piston air rifle has a better trigger and they are know to have crappie triggers, nature of the beast. I would gladly pay $50 more for the gun if it came with a decent trigger.
Wake up Kel Tec. These easily fixed problems that could be addressed at little cost are what keeps you guys from going to the majors.

Sanding the razor sharp edge down last night has made it comfortable enough for me to shoot it.

If the last part of my red dot mounting solution arrives as scheduled, and works as planed, I'll shoot it this weekend.

..including George, apparently.
George??

Two things: Keltec made the metal Sub 9 and Sub 40 that are deemed to be of higher quality than the Sub2k with a corresponding higher price and they didn't sell. In my opinion the trigger from the factory, minus the sharp tip, is perfectly usable and suitable for a pistol caliber carbine. We are not talking about a precision rifle.

Agree, a target trigger is not needed or really even desirable on a PPC. It should however be somewhat consistent. Sometimes it breaks fairly clean then the next shot the trigger is flexing and feels like it's going to break before it lets go. I have had ppcs from both ends of the spectrum colt to masterpiece Arms with a few in between and none have had as poor a trigger. Had a gen one that had the frail front sight. The gen two became available with a decent sight bought it and sold the one. The trigger on the one while not great was usable. The trigger on the two is erratic at best. This leads me to believe it is as much a QC issue, perhaps more so, than design or materials.
If I recall correctly the original sub was double what the 2000 cost. Doubt putting $50 more in a little better trigger and some QC will slow down sales any. Look at the what scalpers were getting not to long ago.
I like Kel Tecs outside the box designs and as stated before some issues are expected. What's troubling is the same issue continue long after they have been exposed. There is a problem when business spring up making products to address your products shortcomings.
