I'm researching out the wazoo and can't for the life of me find any explanation of why it has a 1" pic rail on the bottom of the buttstock. What do you do with that?

Also I've seen sub 9 and gen 1's with a spare mag mounted in the angled well of the buttstock, i figured maybe it's rail mounted, but I can't tell. The gen 2 angled area has what looks like pseudo rail, but I'm not sure what it is either or it's use?

    Thanks

I went back thru all of the pictures past 2014, before there was a gen 2, and not one had anything mounted on it.
I believe when they were redesigning the buttstock from gen 1 they added that to make it look more 'gun-like' than just a flat surface.
Find something to mount on it and you can be the first!:yahoo:

He's referring to the original Kel-tec spare mag holder. It was 2 metal halves that clamped over the lower inside of the butt stock so you could pull the mag forward and out with your free hand. There is one pictured in the FAQ under accessories. In fact if you look at the first post in the Sub Porn picture thread there is one mounted on the Space ModulatOr. 850sub now has that one.

You're both right. I was asking about both things.

3wb I saw it in the "porn" thread, but it didn't say where you bought one/if it fit gen 2 stocks.

Thank you. My interest began as I saw and I need a fab defense glock mag frame picatinny rail mount. It lets you use a spare mag as a vert grip. And quick detaches for when storing.

They had been only available from Kel-tec, except for a few exceptions on Ebay and private sellers. I'm honestly not sure if they will fit the Gen 2 stock, or if Kel-tec is even still making them. I don't see them listed on their accessory page.

I ordered a fab defense Glock magazine frame pic rail grip thing for $13.50 free shipping. Hope no one spying on the mail thinks I'm attempting an AOW since it's meant for the handgun, but I figure it's worth a shot on the front of the kel tec.

I don't want it any less streamlined than stock if I can help it, so I figure a quick release clip/grip is perfect. Never have used a forward very grip before either.

Goal was a nice, close to body underarm carry (folded) with natural reach for the grip.
Ended up at that butt stock picatinny!

Lol, nice first post. And nice set up. Just a little friendly note. Moving the forward sling point to the rearmost point on that rail will ease some stress on the pivot point when you are slinging it in the open position. I'm not saying it is overly prone to breaking but I am one of the rare few who managed it, so I tend to be conservative about placing any unnecessary stress on that point. And it will still hang fine when slung folded set up that way. The original Kel-tec sling actually went from the buttstock to one of the screws on the side of the receiver so all the weight was carried behind the pivot block. Welcome to the forum. That's a good word on that 3w. I've not really put this to use yet but hadn't considered at all the stress all the way out there on the end. In that regard an M-lock variant might be better. Thanks!

I added a QD that would fit the small pic rail section.

Here's a pic of the kit from Tactical Link.

    Hope this is useful

I love what u did with the SI sling mount. It’s almost like KT put that rail there for that specific part. Either way ur pictures have inspired me to do the same with that “rando-rail” but at $25 each, I will probably lean towards a cheaper option. U would swear that rail was put there for a sling mount b/c a light or laser just doesn’t make sense tactically so other than a spare mag holder, a sling mount is the only other purpose it could be used for.....I’m sorry those 2 items and a spare battery holder. I have seen some that are designed to hold those small button batteries. I can post a pic if u don’t know what I am talking about (referring to the Picatinny rail mounted button battery stash spot)

I wish my gen 2 had a QD mount in the receiver, best way to mount a sling IMHO, easy to carry open and folded, and sling doesn’t put any lateral pressure on the hinge
