Those members who know me personally also know my doors are open. If you feel a need to get outta Dodge and a place to stay, please don't hesitate to let me know. We have one good size spare bedroom and several air mattresses. We can make things work.

Lol. Wrong end of Louisiana. The folks who associate New Orleans as Louisiana are the same ones who forget there is an upstate NY and a Northern California. :fight:

I'm in Delray Beach and gonna ride it out. Started putting shutters up tonight. Got water and now just need to get gas cans filled. Traffic is really bad and quite a few gas stations empty, but should get more tomorrow... I work at Lowes and it is crazy. We are out of generators, gas cans, propane both full and small cans, and water.....

Jim, CJ. Nice of you both to offer. Wouldn't have expected anything else. Shutters start going up tomorrow.

My shutters are up as of an hour ago. I made new ones...old ones were 1/2" OSB plywood and had seen much better days. New ones are 5/8 treated plywood (the good stuff). We're gonna ride this one out as usual. :shtf:

    haugrdr,
Do you know what your elevation is where you are above sea level?

You're higher than a number of areas to your south!

You also have higher ground just to the west of you as well. Keep an eye on surge levels and be prepared if they get much above your elevation. Make sure you take care of yourself and your family!

I've got my daughter in Tampa; she's watching things, but not overly concerned yet. However, she has true high ground that she can retreat to if needed (~150'+sea level). She's also fairly self reliant. I'm not worried at this time.

AFAIK, our Texas KTOG'ers made it through Harvey reasonably well. Let's pray our Florida KTOG'ers weather Irma in the same manner. And don't forget about Eric (Tron1) in Puerto Rico. Prayers sent for all of you! Keep us updated as soon as feasible on how you're doing.

If we have to...like if the water rises too much, our plan is to head 11 miles west to our clubhouse. It's sorta on a high piece of ground. Elevation around 35-40 feet.

Hide-a-bed couch, showers, kitchen, TV, pool table....we'll do fine.

Good to see all you Right Coasters sticking together.

I'd offer up some space here on the Left Coast but it is kind of a long drive for most of you. Gun people do tend to stick together.

Too bad the Antifa Bozos can't donate some of their time, black hoodies and face masks to doing something positive for the people of Houston.

I sent 3 big trash bags of clothes and blankets and towels down there last week.

Have never been so moved by a civilian response to a disaster. Awesome !!! :tu::tu::tu:

    President did good too. :tu:

It"s a hurricane THING. Regardless of age, race, income or gender, we are all equal as we stand in line for WATER. I have lived here in the same house in Cocoa for 22 years, been thru ?? hurricanes, always bought bottled water and never needed it due to Water Dept being out of service. Go figure !!

Been putting up storm shutters this morning, 500 gal LP tank is prepared to feed the generator. I still need to go shopping for the other critical hurricane staple......SPAM.

Conny and I together with2 dogs and 2 cats will hunker down in our make do safe room.

Another danger that usually accompanies a hurricane is LOOTING. We are prepared!!!!!!!!!!

    Every one stay safe
