So I was at the range today testing out my brandy new CZ Kadet slide for my P-01. Since my P3AT is always in my pocket, it gets at least a few magazines run through it for practice. The first mag was a full load with one in the pipe for a total of seven. I got my first stovepipe ever - not just the P3AT, ever in many many years of shooting. I did not even know what a stovepipe was exactly, and was embarassed to ask since I have been shooting for over 30 years. But, I knew what it was as soon as I saw it!
It happened on the seventh round, so I did get the full mag through it, and it popped right out when I pulled the slide back to chamber the first round of the next mag.
In the second mag, I got a FTE (failure to eject). That was just a little bit harder to clear, but still wasn't too bad. I've seen many of them over the years, mainly in .22s of various sorts. But then the next two mags went through with no problem at all, and I was out of shells, except for loading it up for carry again. I think the problem was, I cleaned it.
Well, not really, but that is the one thing I have done to it since I got it. I guess I will clean it again, and go back and shoot some more.
The Kadet? I put 133 rounds of three different types of .22 shells through it. There was not a single failure to anything. I can see where that is going to be a lot of fun.
Microtechdude, if you are reading this, we need to get together again and actually do some shooting! I will send you an email when the dust clears from my latest show.
