Firing Pin Roll Pin

628 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  MolotovUralista
I have a Gen 2 G17 Subbie with 300 flawless rounds through it.

While cleaning I just noticed the firing pin roll pin seems to be backing out and rubbing the rounds in the mag and the hammer face. It is even with the stripper bar and shiny and deformed from rubbing.

Punch it back down? Or should I contact Kel Tec and have them send me a new roll pin?

Thanks fellas

Try reseating it first, but if it keeps backing out see if K-T will send you a new one. They don't normally come loose like that.
I will try reseating it first.

How far down should it be seated? I don't have the bolt in front of me to look at right now....

Thanks
Clean it real well, put a dab of green, (wicking), Loctite on it, punch it back in flush. Check the other side, make sure it doesn't come out higher than the surface.

There is no set depth. Just try to make it even on both sides.

Punch it down first to form a pocket. Drop or spray a non-petroleum base solvent in the opening until it comes out the other side. Acetone (non-oily fingernail polish remover{check the ingredients}) works very well with a Q-tip. Then put one small drop of Loctite Blue, or equiv, in the pocket and center the pin. You may also center the pin first and then wick in the green.
Got it seated back down with some locktight. Hopefully it holds but if it doesn't, I have a new one coming in the mail free of charge from Ericka at Kel Tec.

Top notch customer service :D
