F.J. Feddersen, Inc PMR30 replacement barrel

Feddersen told me they would recall the barrel. I shipped mine back and he issued a refund. He said that he would send a new barrel when they had made the corrections. I have not heard from them since I reported the problem.

In a way I wish I had not sent my barrel back. It did function OK with the recommended ammo and it did shoot slightly better groups.

"Accuracy" issues, possible faulty barrel?

So I shot my pmr-30 for the first time today and I couldn't get a shot group less than 6 inches at maybe 20 feet if my life depended on it. saying its inaccurate would be an understatement, its recent and probably the newest model and I was shooting that cci maxi mag 22mag 40gr ammo, it wasn't keyholing since all the holes it made were round. so is the problem just a defective barrel or the ammo, it really doesn't make sense since a lot people post replies and videos on it being at least quasi accurate and only get jams?

I gave up and sold mine due to the inaccuracy. I will sell the holster speedloader and unused Feddderson barrel and be done with it. I just don't have any use for a gun that's that so inaccurate as to be unuseable. Guess I just got a bad one.

I had also tried the 5" barrel with no real improvement. I sent the pistol and both barrels back to KT asking them to do what they could. They replaced practically every moving part including the 5" barrel and now I get significantly better groups. Since it appears the PMR is not an inherently accurate weapon, I think they probably just swapped parts around until they found a combination that gave better accuracy and I appreciate them doing that for me.

Mine likes CCI TNT Green, it's a 30gr bullet a little less powerful (by the fps shown on the label) than other 30gr rounds. It shoots that stuff way more accurately than the rest, I'm thinking it might simply be because less force makes any instabilities less pronounced. I've never had any significant feeding issues with my PMR.

Hey All,

Just happened upon this thread now that I have enough ammo to actually take my PMR-30 back out again...

I have what I believe is a "2nd Gen" PMR-30 with the non-fluted barrel. I irregularly get key-holing which I attribute at least partially to inconsistently weak loads - most often with various CCI. I get good round holes with Hornady Critical Defense, Gold Dots, and V-Max's, but as previously mentioned by others, groupings are all over the place. I typically shoot from 21'-25' ranges, and as above, typically with defensive or hunting rounds.

I've been meaning to take the time to actually study which rounds shoot best out of my particular PMR, but quite frankly between lack of ammo, and the initial accuracy, I have been kinda waiting for someone to come out with a replacement barrel for this thing first.

There's no updated info on the site for new barrels, and so far no return call for me from them.

So any idea if they improved the twist rate with these barrels?

Interesting choice of words in the listing description btw:

"USE OF A SUPPRESSOR WITH THE PMR-30 PISTOL IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
Due to the unique locking action of the PMR-30 pistol and the lightweight slide and barrel, the use of a suppressor is not recommended as it will cause an increase in gas volume and pressure and the slide will likely unlock early. This will cause an increase in gases and residue that is ejected back towards the shooters face and could also cause a case rupture to occur. Any damage or injuries caused by the use of a suppressor or other heavy weight muzzle device attached to the PMR-30 pistol will not be covered by any Warranty.

The thread pattern on the PMR-30 threaded barrel is 3/8” x 24
The length of the barrel is 5" and with the suppressor it is 5 5/8"

I wouldn't bother spending the coin just to lower the amount of flash, but if it actually improved accuracy... Just don't understand how it could without changing the twist rate, like the barrel in this thread's namesake. Also interesting is that they went back to fluted barrels for these parts.

They are referring to a sound suppressor in the first instance, and just the included flash suppressor in the second. Could have been worded better. :)

There is no issue with twist rate on the later stock barrels (non-fluted), as far as I know the optional 5" barrel has the same twist.

I bought the longer barrel hoping for better accuracy and it was in vain. I did send my pmr in and they were able to get it to shoot a little better after replacing some parts.
