"Eagle Eye" Rear Open Sight for KelTec Sub2000 V2

I'm VERY interested in this sight for my Gen 2.

However, it is shown as "out of stock" at Tandem Kross.

Also at Iron Eagle Tactical but with this interesting detail...

"This product is currently unavailable. TANDEMKROSS is introducing a new model. "

So, I contacted both TandemKross and Iron Eagle by phone and email...A WEEK AGO... and received no reply.

Are these companies out of business or simply clueless ? :machinegunner:

Probably neither.

Firearms industry is trying hard to keep up with increased demand right now so they're probably swamped.

They're probably smaller operations as well, so factor in smaller staff, summer scheduling, and increased demand and you get delays in responding to smaller requests.

Tandemkross makes some good products but I don't think they've had very good luck with the folding rear sight design. I purchased one of their Gen 1 spring-loaded sights. The quality of the part was great but the spring loaded design just didn't work right. The spring on mine wasn't strong enough to keep the sight from moving under recoil.

When they brought out the Gen 2 sight, a few of the forum members here tried them out. Seems like I remember a thread on it but don't have time to search for it. If I remember correctly there were some issues with the set screw that engages the sight assembly to the shaft of the lever assembly that cause the lever to work loose under recoil. I wouldn't be surprised if they are undergoing a redesign to fix this issue.

Under recommendation of some of the other forum members, I have since purchased a similar sight from Performance Services, LLC when the owner still went by the name "Earley" on Gunbroker.com. I have been very happy with this sight and the lockup between the sight and the shaft is solid. Just google "Performance Services LLC" and their website will come up.

To ensure full disclosure I have no relation to either of these companies other than I am a happy user of both of their products.

Sorry for any confusion
No worries :)

I'm not used to a "peep" sight or the S2K front sight either.

I guess I could create an open sight by simply dremeling the top off of the aperture with a cutting disc.

That would open up the field of view.

But I'd REALLY like to find a rear sight that offers both windage AND elevation.

I have experienced the issue with the set screw coming loose that engages the sight assembly to the shaft of the lever assembly. This design will be the same on both there rear sight offerings. They need to drill a indentation on the lever shaft that the set screw can set into. I will attempt to correct the situation myself with a drill and small drill bit and see if I can penetrate the shaft for the tip of the set screw to rest in.

I will say that the customer service at TK is suburb. I requested a new set screw and they sent not only the drew but the lever shaft as well in just a couple of days.

Try the peep style sight for awhile. In my opinion they are significantly easier to use than open notch sights.

Agree on trying to adapt to the peep. You may find you prefer them on some rifles/carbines. I found once you learn to trust the concept they are faster to use. Myself and others have found the aperture on the stock sight a bit on the small side. Easily fixed with a drill bit twisted between your fingers.

I opened up my rear peep to 7/64" and found it much easier to pick up the target. I'm going to shoot it for awhile and maybe open it up a little more. The soft plastic makes it easy to do by hand. I also removed the Tactiacool cover so I could get down on the sight easier.
