I took my PF9 out of my holster when I got home the other day and there was No mag in it. I have had this weapon for maybe 5 years and have shot less than 1000 rounds with it. The holster is a Don Hume with the clip moved so that the weapon fits into my left front pocket.

Am wondering if the release pin or spring has gotten weak, have had the release go bad on my first gen LCP.

I need to get a new mag but wondering if there is some sort of underlying problem.

Hi
Do you carry on the left side?

Thanks for the trimming advice.

I find the factory pocket holsters make the gun ride too deep. I like the butt to stick out of my pocket. I have looked at the holster and decided that it covered the mag release button. I trimmed the leather back around the button.

I carry on right hand side.

I've been carrying/wearing a pistol professionally/personally/both
for over twenty years and prefer a mag release that's unobtrusive.
I'd much rather have a slight difficulty when deliberately releasing
a mag, than have a mag drop due to unintentional actuation of the
mag release button. I reduced my PF-9 button by about half the
height above grip surface, with mag in place. Easiest to mark
the desired height on button, and remove it from grip to do the
work.

I have not had a problem with the mag release in a holster, but I have experienced unintended mag releasing while firing at the range. The mag comes loose & does not fall out but causes a failure to feed the next round.
I may have to try removing some material from the release button. That seems like a good idea!
Thanks for the hint.

Thanks to all those who put words to the keyboard.

I would think it may be a good idea for a bottom mag release, P38 to mind.

Basically I want to have 8 shots available. No plans or extra mag to reload.

I use the +1 extension on my mags and I have had some infrequent occurrences of the mag releasing but not dropping out during firing. This usually has occurred during steel matches or action shooting matches at my club range. I'm thinking it may be my grip on the gun causing this but thought I would ask if anyone else has this problem?
