You may have carbon ring build up in chamber. Some suggest copper bore brush and solvent.
I had some issues with aquilla a while back.

I took copper bore brush wrapped some 0000 steel wool and coated it with flitz polish. It may take a couple of times to accomplish 100 perecent function.

Chucked it up to my variable drill at low speed. It polished and cleaned chamber.

I did it for about 1 to two minutes.

No more issues. Now I clean chamber and bore with either copper bore brush or tornado with several strands of 100 percent copper choreboy wrapped around them. It gets any lead and carbon fouling out without need for solvent. I do this by hand using cleaning rod. About 5 to 10 strokes down the bore.
Then I follow up with the bore brush wrapped with steel wool. Again by hand.

I dont feel the need to apply flitz at this point. It's just my ODC nature to use both brushes.
It takes no more time than a normal cleaning would.

Update to my previous post.

I decided to keep p17 and advantage arms 22lr conversion kit. I sold my lcpii.

My rational was that the advantage arms coversion kit is used for glock muscle memory training.

The p17 is just so darn reliable once any tweaks are worked out. The mags are cheaper, easy to load and reliable. Plus my p17 functions with federal punch. Yes it may be a little bulky IWB but the extra barrel length and reliability is worth it.

Picked up an mp15-22 rifle. It has taken the place of my 1022. This gun accurate, super easy to break down and uber reliable once you replace extractor. Its mag are light easy to load , maintain and clean. Especially with McFadden quick lightnin loader.

The rifle with red dot is just under 5lbs. Perfect weight in my book. Again serves as trainer for ar15 muscle memory. I wish I would have picked one up sooner.

I took my time dialing in the mbuis and red dot at 50 yards. Bench rested and was able to get 1 to 2 inch groups depending on my coffee in take and how much my head decided to shake on that day.

Now it sometimes gets boring as the challenge to tag cans out to 50 -70 yards is a breeze.

I am going to start challenging myself out at 100 yards. Major draw back is my vision for small items. 6 to 8 inch steel plate challenging but still easy.

The mp15-22 and p17 are now my go to 22lr. I was able to hit 8 inch plate free handed 5 out of 15 at 50 yards with both guns. I am sure I can get a full mag on target if I shot rested.

Defensive ranges are a no brainer.

My beloved Henry h001 and ruger lcr are going on the chopping block to fund purchasing back stock of 22lr.

I cleaned the gun when I got home....no excess build up...actually fairly clean. I cleaned it after last range use..as I always do with bore cleaner and CLP. I am alright with only using CCI Mini Mags in the P17. Just a range toy, but I do keep Federal Punch in it when the gun is on the night stand. My wife likes it for the laser being on it. It is also 100% with the Punch SD ammo as with the CCI.

Been some time since I have seen my favorite 9mm ammo (S&B) in .22 cal. This shoots well in my CZ Kadet and my Phoenix Arms HP22. Was a bit more than the other .22 ammo at $6.49 a box but want to try it in the P17.

Well first off the S&B LRN ammo did not function well at all. FTE, FT Feed, fail to do everything. Loaded the CCI Mini Mags...perfect. Now the bad news...grandson and I got home, He wanted to help get the gun cleaned while I went in the "Little Room" but unfortunately he stripped one the the slide cover screws. He got impatient and was taking off the slide stop when he really did not need to, but stuff happens. I have a easy out set but the bit will not even dent the screw let alone drill it for the easy out to extract the screw. The is a machine shop down the road, tomorrow I will have to see how much of a "Kings Ransom" it will be to remove the screw. I have two new ones I bought justtttttttt in case when I bought the gun. Actual shooting....after loaded with CCI ammo we had a great time at the range!!!

Are you taking about the p17?

Why would he be messing with slide stop and or cover?
Just curious.

Just spoke to Sharon at Kel-Tec. I am sending the slide to Cocoa to get the screws removed and the new type installed. Old ones are ...well not good! Have to pay to ship (I live in Gainesville, so no big deal on shipping costs) but the work and return is free. Nice and productive conversation with a real CS friendly company.

At least a couple years ago I got all excited when I found S&B .22 and bought 1000 rounds. Wrong. It is so heavily waxed, oiled, whatever, that it would not work at all in my handguns. Hubby says it works in his .22 rifle but he never shoots that one, so there sit all those boxes.

I was so bummed out because I have always loved S&B ammo - and my guns love it also. I even wondered if it was made by someone else and just S&B branded. ???? One of these days if I think about it I might get a box down and wipe the gunk off of each round and try it again. A friend bought a brick of another brand that was heavily waxed and her S&W .22 compact would not shoot it. Neither would mine, but I used paper towels and laboriously wiped off each of the 500 rounds, 60 or 70 at a time, before using them. I used every one of those rounds in my Browning 1911-22 with great success. That was long before I had the P17's.

The S&B .22 ammo is good in a revolver or a single shot .22 rifle. It does require a good cleaning of the firearm after use though. I just tried some in my CZ Kadet...still has some feed and eject problems but not like in the P17. For a range gun only, CCI Mini Mags are not to expensive to use and enjoy with the P17.

Oh I didnt realize you were doing a detailed strip. Still a bit confused. because when you try to take slide stop out you have take off the screw to the trunion. That's the only way to really get at the slide stop. In fact you have to take the frame apart.

Or are you just taking about getting a Qtip in that area?

After doing anual detailed cleaning of my p17. I found the firing pin to have copious amounts of room. This allows it to stay relatively free of debris. It's not like other designs that may warrant regular inspection. Because the firing pin rides in a small narrow diameter channel.

I only clean my during pin annually, maybe semi anually or if an issue would warrant.

<<<< shows the removal of the slide stop and the cleaning of the Firing pin, channel of it and the ejector channel. I do this about every 3oo rds which is like you said probably un necessary because the area does not get that built up with debris. To save wear and tear on the screws I will not do it as much when I get the slide back. Which by the way, is in repair as we speak. Instead of the trying to drill and easy out the old screw I might think they will just throw in a new assembly to send out.

No word on the P17 yet. It surprises me, thought for sure they would just throw a new slide/slide stop in a box and ship it out the next day. Oh well, lesson learned. Besides that, I ordered a Heritage Rough Rider revolver to shoot some of the lower velocity .22 ammo. $100 with points I had. Had a few and just really liked them...I was real lucky from the horror stories I have seen. Any way, ordered and thought it was in stock at my local BassPro store but was not so it will be about a week before I get it.

Received this e mail yesterday.... no word on how they handled it. "This email is to notify you that we have finished servicing your P17BBLK! If you are a walk-in customer and plan on physically picking up your repair, please disregard the shipping notifications. Once your weapon has been readied for shipping, we will send you an additional email notifying you of the tracking number information." I have missed my P17!!!

When I got mine back the page included listed all the parts they had replaced.

Still no tracking e mail for the P17 slide work that was completed last week. Not the typical of the fast KelTec service. The Heritage Rough Rider I just bought is fun, but will not take the place of the P17 at the range.

You could phone or send a polite email inquiring as to whether they have sent it yet. The reason I suggest that is:

Not too long ago I sent a very good revolver of mine to my son's FFL - different state. The FFL I used to send it used USPS. Two days after it was "sent" I got an email from our local post office saying the package was ready for pickup. A visit to the post office with the FFL guy along produced the information that a new employee had made a mistake. Well, yes indeed. The very nice older ladies "from the back room" retrieved it and made sure it was sent properly on its way. I am not remotely suggesting that someone at Keltec might have made a similar mistake and your package is waiting there for you to pick it up ---- but just sharing that sometimes strange stuff happens.
