I've found info on people cutting down their Gen1 grip (and it was done to mine by a previous owner) but haven't been able to find anything on a cut down Gen2. Sub2000s are hard to find around here (I'd love to find a Gen2 for 20% over MSRP), and I came across a Glock 17 version. I have a Glock 19, and would like to be able to use those mags in it. I haven't bought it yet, because I want to make sure I can make it work.

Has anyone cut down a Gen2?

Gen 1's were made to be cut down....that's how Kel Tec designed them...to be cut for the different models.

The Gen 2's are molded to different sizes and shapes...the factory no longer just "cuts them down" like they used to. If you want a Glock 17 model...call Kel Tec and order a Glock 17 grip assembly. Personally, I wouldn't try to cut one to fit.

To take that idea a little further, if you want to change the magazines the S2K will accept, order the grip of your choice, along with the mag release knob for the desired magazine type (Glock, Sig, Etc.)

I could be wrong but I believe Glocks can still only be Glocks, even in the Gen 2.

That is true if you only try to replace the mag release. But I was under the impression that if you change out the entire grip assembly, you can choose which ever magazine type you wanted.

Hmmmm...not sure CJ?

If the whole grip assembly can be changed...maybe that's no longer true?

I'll try to find out from Nick.
Great! Please find out! This is important for those who just can't find that companion S2K to match that favorite handgun.

While it may be true you can change from Glock to "other", remember the only "other" available in the Gen 2 is currently the M&P to the best of my knowledge. ;)

Or have I fallen behind the times?

The Multi-Mag version is out. A friend of mine has one, and one is for sale in a local GS near me now. I was unfamiliar with it, and thought that maybe you can change out the mag release on the G19 version to something else, so I wrote Kel-Tec. Here is the response from Ericka at Kel-Tec CNC . .

"The M&P, Sig, Beretta and S&W versions of the Sub are interchangeable (because the grips are the same), by changing out the mag catch, which you can purchase on the website eventually. The Glock version has a completely different grip altogether, so it cannot be converted to (or from) another version."

Since the handgrip sections can be purchased, I assumed that you can buy the multi-mag set, along with the proper mag release.

It will be good to here from Nick . . . . .

I haven't heard back from Nick yet.

I did find this though....

Kel-Tec is also updating their hugely-popular pistol caliber carbine line-up with the new Sub-2000 Multi Mag. The Sub-2000 Multi Mag accepts Smith & Wesson M&P magazines as well as Beretta 92 and SIG 226 magazines with adapter kits. The updated carbines will be chambered for 9mm Luger and .40 S&W and the MSRP will remain $500, while the kits will list between $30 to $50 and should be available very soon.

I know that the factory doesn't cut the grip on the gen 2, but could it be done? I don't have one to look at.
The Gen2 grip is so nicely molded....I'd hate to cut it.

Plus there's an assembly screw right where you would need to do the cut.

If you're wanting to buy new or change your grips...ya better hurry, I just heard from the factory that they won't be selling the grips anymore. Only the mag catches...no grips. The ATF got down on them about selling the grips...it makes it harder to track where a gun was made and what it was originally from the factory if someone changes the grips. That's what I was told.

I heard back from Nick today, they are really busy with a new phone system.

YES...a Glock is still a Glock only...cannot be changed to any other even if you could buy a new grip...a Glock is a Glock only. The others can be swapped around but not the Glocks.

They are currently producing the Glocks, and Sigs, Berettas and S&W M&P....they are no longer making the subs in S&W model 59's I'm sorry to say. But who knows? If they get enough requests? But these subs are now called "Multi-Mags" all except the Glocks are now Multi-Mags.

Nick said "please don't try cutting the grip!" it looks like hell...maybe something will change in the future and they will start selling the grips...but in the meantime...don't cut them down.
