I tried to get one some months ago, but they asked for my serial number. I told them "I didn't have the pistol or SN handy" (truth: I don't own one), so I gracefully ended the call telling them I'd get back with them later. I assume they have caught on to what some of us have done.
I ended up buying some metal sights from someone on ebay, but they lack dimples for paint dots, and they look like they would snag on stuff when you draw it.
For some reason, I couldn't get a new factory rear sight to go into the dovetail in my P-11 slide, and the factory sight that came with it moves around way too easily. It's like the dovetail is too tight, and someone filed down the existing rear sight to get it installed. I bought this gun new, but had the slide refinished. The ebay sight fits and stays put because of its set screw, but has the issues mentioned above. I might try my hand at drilling some dimples, and turn it around so that the surface toward the rear is sloped and less likely to snag. This would also allow the rear sight to be used to rack the slide on the edge of a table, or a belt loop. I understand that this could be a desirable feature in certain circumstances.
Maybe I do have it on backwards. I'll have to check this out.
