I just cleaned my AR15. The bolt was stuck closed and it SUCKS to clean! How is the RDB? I've read that is has less parts than an AK, I miss never cleaning my AK. Is there a lot of carbon inside to clean out? Is it simple and easy to clean? Lots of small tight areas to get into?

I'm planning to clean mine in the next couple of nights, so I'll let you know how it goes. But based on my initial teardownot it should be quick and easy compared to an AR, which I don't think is that bad anyways unless you really let them go.

Here is how the RDB breaks down:

The barrel assembly is right in front of you and the chamber end of the brrel is VERY easy to get to. It's much easier than the AR to clean.

Edit: All you have to do is push out 4 pins and you get this disassembly.
I agree, after disassembly it is much easier to reach the chamber for cleaning compared to an AR-15. After a couple sessions of 60-90 rounds each, the RDB also seems to run a lot cleaner vs an AR.

I actually moved away from the AR platform due to how much I hate cleaning it.

By far, the cleanest running gun I have ever used or owned is the FN SCAR 17. Besides the chamber and gas piston, the upper receiver and bolt assembly is so pristine you'd almost think the gun hadn't been fired when you disassemble it. Crazy.

Cleaned it last night and it was very easy and straightforward. One thing that's nice is having direct access to the breech/barrel, I can run a 2 section cleaning rod vs. 3 in my AR. That aside, the piston design means the internals stay much cleaner.

With the QPQ/Melonited barrel, you should not have to clean it. Wipe and lube the bolt and locking lugs of the barrel and carry on.

I ran a Melonited AR15 barrel for 9700 rounds with no cleaning and there was no degrading of accuracy and when I did clean it, was quick and easy. That is one of the huge benefits...and longer barrel life...of the melonited barrel.

That is good to hear!

I just went to clean my AR, and the bolt was seized solid. And there was rust and white crystals in the breech and and little crack coming out of the gas system. This is a brand new gun with very little shooting and constantly being cleaned.

Of coarse my window is open all the time, but white crystals?! Is that corrosive ammo? The box is wolf and says non-corrosive.
