Morning Everyone-
Just jumped into the SUB2000 pool and, after doing a lot of reading and watching videos, became very impressed with the amount of “tinkering” that can be done with this guy. How have you folks found changing out the charging handle (to the heavier body) such as the M*Carbo or Sumo offering working out for you? Mine is the 9mm version and was wondering if the change was dramatic or merely meh. I’m not recoil sensitive in the least, but am very interested in the possibility of quicker sight re engagement.
Thanks,
Goop

Changing the charging handle is a piece of cake. Disassemble your sub2k to see what I mean. If you can disassemble it you can reassemble it with the other handle.

If you're going to put a heavy (or just different) handle on it be sure to get the heavy bolt weight from KelTec. It too is installed by merely reassmbling it with the new part in place.

BUT don't throw the OEM parts away. Increased mass on the handle means more stress on the part as it slams back and forth. I was putting thousands of rounds through mine every year and broke a 2 finger charger. Until it was replaced under warranty I put the factory charger back in and was good to go. But you'll probably never need to return to the OEM steel bolt weight.

Edit #1: Like you I'm not at all recoil sensitive so I did it more to get back on target sooner. Also for more mass to reduce any tendency for a jam when chambering a cartridge. Did it work? I have no idea if I ever would have gotten a jab because it never happened. Correction, I never got a jam due to chambering. Mine absolutely HATES aluminum cased ammo and is a jammamatic with it. I was actually surprised, and pleasantly so, because it worked flawlessly with the butterfly fart ammo that I was making for my M&P. It was just powerful enough to make minor power factor reliably and no more. That with the heavy bolt weight and a 2 finger charging handle in place, later a heavy MCarbo charging handle.

edit #2: Southsideirish... Boston? Just curious. Obviously it means something.

Much thanks for the info!
I’m excited for all of the “tweaking and peaking” that can be done to this platform; I roll my own also and am looking forward to load development and/or finding out the optimal load for this one.

SSI- South Side Chicago Irish: very very close to the Boston variant…
