After over 2000 rounds through my gen 2 9mm, had a first issue!! The charging handle literally broke while I was charging one in the chamber! The handle fell on the floor, and the small piece you see in the pic, stayed in the bolt! I got home and was able to take the bolt out with no issues!!! Look like a phone call to Keltec, to see if they can send a new one!! Also thinking of getting one of those Sumo heavy charge handle!! Does keltec respond quickly with parts???

He probably took the bolt out and tapped it out with a punch. Or it just fell out.

This is a first for me anyways. Haven't seen a broken handle like that before.

You are correct!! I had to make sure I charged the handle before disassembly, so I just stuck the handle in the hole and it was enough to charge the handle, then I took it apart and as I was sliding the bolt out, the piece dropped out! I was pretty shocked when the handle just dropped to the floor!! Crazy

The handle is only held in place by spring tension. Remove the spring; handle falls out.
^^^This. Mine broke at about the 4,000 rd mark. I was shooting through a magazine and it broke at some point during the shooting. I discovered it after swapping mags and trying to recharge the bolt. Kel-tec had me a new one by the end of that week. There is some slight wear on the sides of the handle from recoiling in the slot. And I noticed wear marks on mine at around 2,000 rds. I also stopped slapping it out of the hold back slot after replacing it and so far so good.

Interesting.

I was considering a Sumo handle anyway, so maybe I'll order one as a backup...

So I called Keltec this morning. Wait time was about 2-3 minutes. They said to send them a few pics of the broken handle, and they will ship a new one out! First experience with customer service and give them A+!!! Spoke to Sean, very helpful.

With that sharp radius in the handle, it creates a stress riser. If it's going to break, that's where it will do it. Probably a good idea to have a spare. And thanks to this thread I just ordered a sumo handle. Still researching what people do to my new to me Gen 1 .40 cal glock model.

THIS EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME, INCLUDING THE PICS YOU POSTED...

BUT

my experience was with the double charging handle from MCARBO. They sent a replacement, didnt want mine back, but told me that this was not a new situation. They had seen it before and were changing the handle material. They sent the new one and ever since, I have not let the bolt fly back into position from its holding notch. I hand control it back into place, letting it fly only a little bit. Using this approach, the bullet seats into place and the handle does not get any undue force upon it
