Okay enough is enough ! I've owned this PMR-30 for 4 years now and the above ammo is STILL extremely hard/impossible to find .Local shops do-not have it.Sites like Ammo-bot.don't have it.And when they do its about the same price as 223 ammo_OR, have a 1-2 box limit. Articles say CCI is making it in "Record amounts". I find that hard to believe. So where is this ammo going ? Their web site says "due to high demand" yada, yada, yada. There was a Real shortage in 223 ammo a couple years ago.BUT it didn't take long for supply to catch up with demand.Something is wrong when 22Mag ammo sells for the same price as 223 .

So why keep a gun that infuriates you ?

Do you think posting no ammo is available to thektog is going to make it magically appear.

I know locally I can walk into walmart and have a good chance of it being on the shelves and its been that way for 3-4 months now. Academy also usually has it on the shelf.

.30-.35¢ per round for both. Sometimes on sale .26-.28¢ .
At least that's what I'm seeing around here.
And real proud of their 5.56 and .308.
Another note (rant) boxes of ammo (.40, .45) that I paid $29 last summer are over $45 now.? Good thing I stocked up....

Still hard to find in central NC, and yes I can find .223/5.56 cheaper. Once in a while I will find it at a Bass Pro Shop, etc. Some gun shops will have it but way overpriced. Walmarts around where I live never have it, or 22lr either. I've been wanting to try the Hornady CD and have never found any even online, been looking for 9 months. Once I got an email alert from Sporttsman's Guide and it was gone by the time I got to the site. It's extremely frustrating.

I wonder if Kel Tec has created the shortage since now there are popular fast firing semi auto 22 mag range toys like the PMR and CMR whereas before there were pretty much only bolt action rifles that were only used sparingly for hunting. People needed maybe one or two boxes of ammo a year, now everyone with a PMR/CMR wants 1000rds. I don't think the ammo makers have ramped up anywhere near enough to feed these new firearms, they are stuck in their past way of thinking. That's my theory and it's worth what you payed for it. ;)

Every Wal-mart and Gun shop in Atlanta has 22 mag in stock. Local Wal-mart had CCI for 13.75 a box. I quit buying about 3 months ago. I have enough in inventory to feed my PRM/CRM for a very long time. There were times when it wasn't available, so I waited and purchased as many as I could when it was. Same thing with .22 LR

I've only had my PMR-30 for about 6 months or so, but I've found that although I'll occasionally stumble across a good deal on .22wmr online, most of what I've purchased has been locally. I've tried quite a few brands but the three I've yet to get my hands on are the Hornady CD, Speer & the CCI 40 gr. Hornady & Speer is out there but too expensive for my tastes. CCI 40gr. seems to be non-existent.

The CCI TNT & +V (both 30 gr. hollow point) both shoot well but I'm just curious to try a heavier bullet, or one of the above rounds that are supposed to be 'optimized' for short barrels.

I've noticed Cabelas site will get .22wmr regularly at decent prices but usually limit to 5 boxes.

I bought some CD locally last week for $12.99 a box. Field and Stream has about twenty of the "Choot em" 200 round boxes for $59.99 ($15 a box).

$16.99 is still steep, especially with that quantity. Although, I would have bought a few myself cause I love that ammo...

I have been eyeing the PMR-30 for some time and have the opportunity to finally pick one up for a reasonable price, but I don't think I will.

No way I can justify the cost of WMR ammo. .223/5.56 can be had for less, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense (guess it's due to being ubiquitous).

Its not just KT. The round has made a comeback in small revolvers too; wife bought an 8 shot 22M a few years back and several companies have similar high cap snubbie 22m defense revolvers. Tons of ppl bought a 22m micro NAA over the last decade or two also. KT didn't help anything, but there are multiple reasons.

Agreed, but the KT guns are way, way hungrier than those types of guns, and arguably more popular.
