has anyone had experiences with brownells gun kote? now that i've removed some surface rust off the slide of my P3AT (i rubbed too hard with the "0000" steel wool and took of some of the blueing) i am considering either duracoat or gun kote. here is the website:

also, my P3AT slide has a some penetrated rust. i wonder if you can just duracoat over that.

Gun-Kote works as advertised, but I am not a fan of spray cans (they can clog and spatter).

It is very important to remove ALL rust before refinishing. Surface prep is key to a good job.

I like Duracoat applied with an airbrush. Spray cans can sputter and goop up on you

I have had great success w/ gunkote.....is very thin so spatter and clogging are not really an issue like the Alumihyde II spray products.....watch the video of them re-finishin a slide on Brownells website....very informative....use light coats....
