Barrel Polish?

Are the barrels chromed? Is it safe to polish the exterior and addition to the ramp?

Barels are not chromed, but I see no reason to polish it if you are always going to keep it greased. On the other hand, I can see no reason not to polish it so long as you are not removing a measureable amount of material. I would still keep it greased, however.
Ramp and chamber polishing are all that's necessary. But, if you enjoy "fondling" it there's no harm in polishing the exterior of the barrel. ;D
Be sure not to remove any metal AT ALL from the barrel hood. Doing so could result in, well, missing fingers and assorted very necessary body parts.

Ah? Isn't it called the Flyer Barrel Hood Mod that does remove metal from there?

No.
Note the red outlines:

These are the areas that contact the inside of the ejection port. If you want to smooth them out, fine - but you'll be exceedingly sorry, and it won't be the first time it's happened at KTOG.

I'm not talking about using the sandpaper polish, just want to buff out with Flitz or Menzerna. I doubt if that will remove enough material to matter.

If your slide is hard chrome then your barrel was hard chromed, otherwise no. I have been known to polish my hard chromed barrels as I always wipe them down with Break Free anyway.
