New to the forum and just bought KSG.

I have been unable to find any credible ballistic gel test on the aguila mini shot slugs. You can usually find what you're looking for on Youtube (tnoutdoors9, shootingthebull410, Brassfetcher), but not for these which I find surprising. Anyone know of a credible (proper calibration/temp) test video that I haven't found?

Shotgun Ammo for Home Defense - Gunblast.com

This should give you some great general info about 12 guage home defense ammo.....not ballistic gel!

I found the mini slugs to be okay........ but their lead and no real solid data on their true impact force. And in truth. I have only shot cardboard with one box so far. I have more but only shot one box.

I buy lead to target and course with but have Ddupleks steel slugs at a solid 1,600 fps for load out. With no deformation on impact like lead.

There are a few videos on youtube of the mini but they're only shooting from 5-10yrds... and dont seem legit on what they can truly do.

I plan soon to go out and truly test the mini slugs more for myself on junk cars and blocks at distance. (Private Training ground)

A 5/8 ounce (274 grains) 12g slug at 1200 fps (chrono velocity out of my 18.5" barrel) is far more energy than pretty much any handgun round. I have not tested them in gel, but I shot a bunch of hogs with them and they did great.

Those armored-dillos must be tough around those parts. Maybe you should try buckshot...
I was using buckshot vs. the slug version so I can't comment on the slugs. I also found that the Aquila is very expensive and hard to find in stock. The Aquila shells are 1.75" and Herter's has a 2.25" mini-buckshot shell that is sold at Cabela's for a lot less money. I stocked up on these about a year ago and I find they work much better on the armadillos. If you have never shot an armadillo, they are one tough customer!
