Just spray painting thier slide? Reason i ask is i have a can of Krylon outdoor gear paint left (its the stuff for tree stands and what not). I was just wondering if anyone else has done any home brew refinishing. I was just thinking of masking off the bottom side of the slide and the ejection port and seeing what happens...

I've heard of people using cheap spray paint for doing rifle camo, apparently they were happy with the results.

If you try it, please post before and after pics.

And then after a few trips to the range and cleaning, post some more pics.
if you mess up or scratch it its cheap to fix ;)you might want to go to youtube click on brownells spray on gun finish they will show you all you need to know on the subject...
Yeah im just thinking about it becouse the can of paint i have is a dark flat forest green. And with my black grip it would look perty neat i bet. That and the blueing is kinda blotchy. Im not upset with the factory finish, how could you be for the price and it just runs. But i was taking inventory on spare junk i have and i got to thinking...
thats usaully bad, as any gun enthusiast or gear head can attest too...

I used a flat black BBQ (high heat) krylon on an 870.  I bead blasted then primed then painted.  It looks good to me, but any little thing will scratch the paint.  Since the gun is hardly ever moved, it is not a problem.  But I would imagine with a lot of handling it would would need touching up alot.
