I had a problem with a used, Gen 1 Sub 2000 that I bought a few months ago. After emailing a picture of the problem to Kel-Tec, they agreed that the issue needed to be looked at by them.

It took a few months, but the rifle found it's way back to my doorstep. Well, actually my original rifle is still somewhere in the bowels of the Kel-Tec repair department. What stared back at me when I opened the box was a brand new, Gen 2 Sub-2000! Wow! I am floored. I expected a repair bill since I was not the original owner. This was much better than that.

The new gun runs great and I am getting used to the AR-15 style sights. (I am one of the few who actually liked the Gen 1 front sight.)

Thanks Kel-Tec! What a great company.

Well, don't let word get out. Many posters rely on the myth that KT has lousy customer service.

The one time I had to contact them, the result was immediate and beyond satisfaction. (told them I had a broken firing pin and would happily pay for the replacement and a spare to get it quickly, forget warranty. They sent me 2 pronto for free).

We need to save room for:

. I can't believe they sell such junk and can't make it work:mad:"

I bought a used SU16, shot it some, sold it to a friend, he shot it a bunch, eventually wore out the barrel and it started keyholing. He had to pay $40 to transfer warranty into his name and then they sent him a brand new gun.

This makes me want something to go wrong with my 1st gen... well, not really, but you get the point.

New Gen 2 - Problems & Keltec Customer Service

I purchased a new Gen 2 sub2k in July. Upon taking delivery, I noticed quite a few problem areas that needed to be addressed.

1. The lockup was very loose, I could move the front half up and down almost 1/8"
2. When it was folded the entire front half swung over to the left, instead of being centered on the buttstock, likely due to untrue mating surfaces.
3. The front sight post was adjusted pretty far over to the left. & the front sight block appeared to be canted to the right.

Needless to say I wasnt very happy.
I contacted Customer service, and was promptly sent a return label.

Upon sending it in, I also mentioned that I had intended to run it suppressed, and had seen another members Sub2k that KT had updated the FSB for suppressor use, & asked about having this mod done.

After just over a month, I received a shipping notification, and a few days later I had my Sub2k back in my hands.

I have to tell you that after experiences with other companies, etc. & my feelings of receiving this firearm in its initial condition that I was fully expecting to be underwhelmed.

To my delight, KT had fixed all of the problems I had mentioned. plus they did some fluff and buff on the trigger, & feed ramp, swapped out the FSB for the jam nut suppressor use version, updated the safety selector, and trigger guard latch and test fired for function.

This thing locks up tight, & is straight as an arrow now. Looks great! I took it out on Sunday and ran a healthy variety of 150 rounds JHP RN FP, 115/124/147 9mm ammo through it. Suppressed, & unsuppressed... It performed flawlessly!

So I just wanted to thank Keltec for making things right. Nice job guys/gals!

A few things to add,

ETS 31 round mags, worked great for me. & are a pretty good value for the price. & I will definitely be adding a cheek/tube cover.
