Even with more and "better" firearms a 10/22 is still fine for what it does well. Many, and I'm among them, shoot one in Steel Challenge competition. But it wouldn't be a first choice for SD. Glad to see that she has a dad who can teach her the skills she needs to know and hopefully will never need.
She's been shooting with me for about 3 years now. I bought her the 10/22 when she was 12 because I wanted one when I was 12. She has enjoyed it and I love spending the quality time with her.
The 10/22 is a terrific rifle. I still love to shoot it. Even when I go to the range with my other platforms, I usually bring it along.
