I don't know whether this story made the forum here or not.

65-year old 'Granny Oakley' uses P32 to stop mugging

A four-foot 11-inch, 105-pound grandmother in New Hampshire tapped in her Kel Tec late Monday night and whistled up some mugger repellant for a would-be repeat offender.

The pistol packing senior, commonly called "Granny Oakley" found herself face to face with a young man, Michael Bontaites, 23, (with no fixed address), outside her apartment in Manchester around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 6. She believed the man followed her from a nearby gas station where she had stopped earlier in the night.

"Something in my head said to take the gun out of my purse," the woman told News 9.

When he blocked her path, our spry young woman kicked into action and refused to become a victim though her assailant was 5 foot, 11 inches, and 200 pounds.

"As soon as he went to grab me with his left hand, I pulled (the gun) out and shot him. I didn't even think about it. I thought my safety was in danger," the woman, who asked that her name or image not be publicized, told the Manchester Union Leader.

"I'm not happy about what happened. I wish I didn't have to do it, but my safety was my first priority."

Her gun of choice, a Kel Tec P32-- and it was the first time she fired it. The incident occurred just ten feet from her stairs.

The assailant collapsed and our hero, a valid concealed carry permit holder, summoned police although once they arrived the failed mugger had beat feet, leaving behind a trail of blood.

Bontaites, wounded in the chest, stumbled into a nearby hospital and was later charged alongside his buddy, Zachary Boyd, 30, who drove him there. It seems both our would be mugger and his wheelman were felons which earned Boyd a charge for being a felon in possession of a knife. Bontaites, besides the round he caught for his troubles, faces felony robbery and will be in court onJan.14.

65-year old

As noted by the Union-Leader, Bontaites in 2012 threatened a woman with a knife for which he was facing felony charges that could have landed him in prison for 3 1/2 to seven years, which would have meant he likely would still have been in jail instead of trying to rob an honest senior citizen. However, as part of a plea bargain, he only got six months in county, an anger management evaluation, and a year of probation.

As for our granny, she has fielded reporters, congratulations from the Mayor (but not New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan, a Democrat who has vetoed key gun rights legislation in the state) and even from Presidential contender Donald Trump who said of her actions Thursday, "It's such a beautiful story."

We agree.

Point-blank: she made her point and the blank look on his face must have been priceless:eek:.
The good news is, she was not in a 'gun-free' utopian city like Chicago (where she would be just another mugging/stabbing victim) and was able to defend herself.
Memorable quote for me: "..., leaving behind a trail of blood."
This is a crime deterrent;).
Remember, "PD" means personal defense, not police department, whose job it is to solve a crime that has already occurred:rolleyes:.
EDIT: and the .32 ACP in center mass is definitely sufficient to stop an attack.

I agree and do carry a p32. Had someone yesterday tell me that the gun is to light and too small a bullet. He is carrying a Jimenez .380. I think my kel tec is a better option. Besides, his pistol weighs a ton. Would not want to carry it all day.
