New to Sub2000 -- three questions (where to mount xtra mag & buffer?)

Just picked up a new SUB-2000 GEN 2 for $389 locally.

1) Is there an easy way to attach an extra mag to the gun somewhere (I'm thinking lower rail or buttstock)?

2) What do people think of the TACTICOOL BUFFER? I figured it might help reduce wear on the gun with +P and +P+ which I have a LOT of, though I'll mostly just shoot 124gr American Eagle and Magtech ... (I was going to cut it about 20% shorter to see if I could get the bolt to lock.)

3) Any MUST HAVE mods? (I plan on MCARBO-ing it out eventuallly.)

Get the Mcarbo buffer. I don’t have an answer for the magazine.

*Updated w/Correction: I initially posted that Kel-Tec's sling for the Sub-2000 is single-point and this was incorrect, it's a two-point sling. Also, I used this YouTube video to help with installation. He's using a Sub2K Gen 1 but the process is the same for the Gen 2.

Congratulations, it's a great carbine and that's what I paid for my Sub-2000 Gen 2 too.

It's not necessarily a mod but I added Kel-Tec's two-point sling after doing some research on all options. It's inexpensive, easy to install and I'm happy with it. Some of the reviews I read online were critical but this was mostly because it's utilitarian/not all that fancy or padded but I think it's perfect for this rifle.

Ok ... I gotta ask. I should apologize first 'cause we ain't got no cry'n closet here.

But, why would anyone want to add pounds to their rifle? If we figure a loaded mag at 1 pound, that's +20% to the weight of the rifle. The spare mag holder seems to be a recurring theme, so there must be a good reason folks don't wear them in mag carriers on their belt right next to their spare pistol mags. Access from the belt is probably faster than most of the on-board mag carrier solutions I've seen and that spare pound close to your center of mass carries much easier than hung off the rifle.

When mine is stowed, it is ready for service and there are several spare mags stowed in the same place. My deployment plan is grab rifle and shove some mags into pockets - done.

Now ... if you are a prepper who wants to be able to send your 4 year old to grab the rifle and have confidence that he'll remember to grab the spare mag too ... more power.

Ok, I feel better (a little). And, y'all should feel free to strap as much stuff as you like to your rifles. I already know that asking questions like this explains why my friend count is highly selective :ignore:.

Oh, for me it’s just that I want to be able to grab JUST the gun and have plenty of ammo (17+32 rounds). My gun is now in a small bag, and there are extra mags, but if I am in a real hurry, I’m not gonna be filling my pockets or putting on a strapped pouch, but just grabbing it and running.

If I’m not in a real hurry, yes, I’ll put the other mags in my pocket.

But one extra mag wouldn’t add a lot of space or weight since it’s already such a light gun. And if I were gonna take this hiking, I’d likely just want one extra 32rd or 17rd mag in the backpack, so it may as well be on the gun. Obviously your mileage varies.

I kinda wish someone made a pic rail mounted vertical grip/mag holder for pistol mags, like for ARs.

The only other idea I could throw out would be to tape two 30 round mags together, but would make for a long stick.

Now I and a friend both have Beretta Storm mags. He keeps a flush 20 round mag in the carbine and tapes a 30 round mag to the bottom of the foregrip of the stock. Actually makes a nice grip as the long Beretta mags have the heavy rubber covering on the bottom half of the mag.
