KSG sights

Hi, I am new to the site and the KSG. I like the gun but am having a problem with the sights. I installed a pair of Troy flip up iron battle sights and a red dot optic. Unfortunately the sights and the optic are too low, I can't get my eye low enough to get a proper sight picture. Is there a way to raise or replace the picatinny rail with a rail that is about 3/4" taller?

I'd be interested which sights you picked. Most "AR compatible" sights are tall enough.
This is a little like: "I just put a new set of 14" wheels on my car, what do I have to do to put 15" tires on them"?
What you could do try is, put 2 of these Hi-Tech safety lower rails on the top rail to move the sights up.

It wouldn't be cheap but may be cheaper than pitching a bunch of expensive sights in a drawer.
*Disclaimer: This may work. Then again, it may not:rolleyes:.
Edit: If 2 of the 5.850" aren't going to be long enough, swap one for this 6.615" rail.

Is it possible that you are holding the KSG incorrectly?
I ask because the first time I shouldered the KSG I had the same issue as you... My head was too high over the stock and I was bending my head over and down, trying and failing to get a decent sight picture.
I have very little time with straight stock guns like the AR or KSG, with all my rifle/shotgun experience being traditional stocks.
Once I raised the butt up on my shoulder and crouched my myself over and into the KSG my cheek weld lined lined my eyes up correctly with the sight plain (where raised AR style sights sit, not all the way down to the rail) and everything felt right.

I've tired maybe 7 different sights. My current is a holosun 503g acss.... (i think thats the call out on it....) and a 1" riser and a quick detach wired closed. With a seeall open sight backup mounted up front. I have a hallow riser so you can see thru to the seeall. I am soon to get a high intensity daylight visible green laser which i will mount 45 to the right infront of the holosun. I believe this location i should be able to reach quick with my trigger hand.

I am not camera shy. You know it. I was talking to a Green beret trainer of our range. And he has green lasers on everything. Says it makes up for combat stress. Cause when the shooting starts. In CQB You lose stealth anyways. May as well hit what you are shooting at for your life or theirs.

I have added Magpul BUIS sites that work well but I also added a Crimson Trace CMR201 pistol laser to the bottom rail (upside down), right at the front before the vertical grip. Once sighted in, I just put the red dot on the target, squeeze the trigger, and a hole appears!! What could be easier??

All I can say WTF!!!!!

The ksg did not like this ammo. It is 1150 fps 1 ounce. Shoots super high and way left....

I bottomed out the front sight and had to put rear all the way right.

Still had to hold left about 8 inches of POI and low 8 inches.

Had the ranger 1300 fps one ounce dialed in.

Oh well still it's of fun but disappointed.

I had a friend try it out of his ksg and came result.

Ugh

Thought I had ordered the 7/8. At 1300fps. Now I am hesitant as I dont want toi dump
More money and have same POI

All the reviews say great accuracy. Hmmm I am going to give more rage time and try again not resting on sand bag.

Got a Kel-Tec KSG for Christmas and I'm having the same problem, especially when I have "Mickey Mouse" hearing protectors on.

I bought a red-dot sight (AT3 Tactical RD-50 Micro Reflex) thinking that this might solve my problem, but I still can't see my fixed Magpul sights or the red dot sight.

I'm thinking about adding a recoil pad to increase my eye relief distance.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

I have the KSG25. It came with the flip up sights. They seem to be pretty damn accurate without me adjusting them. I have been considering some different sights but I'm in no real hurry and haven't fully researched anything.

I got my Sig Romeo 5 Compact about 2 hours ago. I bore sighted it and it was ridiculously close straight out of the box. I'll get to the range tomorrow and zero it. Co-witnesses with the flip up MBUIS perfectly. I mean out of the box it was sitting right on top of the front blade and I have 400-500 rounds worth of proving that those iron sights are true. Shake awake is awesome too.

You can get small (1" to 6" long x .5", .75", 1" or 1.5" high) risers that screw on standard Picc rails to lift sights, lights & scopes. I know some people disagree, but common sense tells me that lasers should be centered in the same plane as the barrel in a "fixed" position (not as critical for a light which is fine on a side mount off the top). To mount a laser sight and/or a light on the bottom rail of a KSG (or any rifle that has a rail that moves with every racking motion) is counter to being able to site the weapon quickly in a SHTF situation (when fractions of a second make the difference between life or death) because the back and forth movement of racking the rifle will add such fractions to recapture your focus. You must expect your target is also moving and the iris of your eye will not be working as hard if your laser &/or sight are in a fixed position.

Sounds like your cross eyed dominant I have the same issue I’m right handed but left eye dominant I have to shoot my ar and ksg left handed
Hello, I am hopeful that you have received an answer as this was posted quite some time ago. However… I just received my weapon in the last month or so and experienced the same problems. I bought an adjustable riser that has three different settings and found one that aligned very nicely with the flip up sites. Makes it a lot more comfortable to see through as well. Hope you didn’t need this advice and got your problem taken care of a long time ago!
