SUB 2000 Gen 2 9mm Block recall?

Hello,

I purchased a new SUB2000 Gen 2 with the 9mm Glock 17 setup from Shoot Straight online. I paid by eCheck and the amount was taken from my account on 3/23. They have all my FFL information, so all on my side of this is complete.

I have been checking my order status every day since, and it kept saying my order was 'processing'. I called them today, 3/27, and asked why my order wasn't shipped. I was told, by the owner, Andrew Acosta, that some of the firearms he had in stock has some barrel issue and had to check serial numbers so he wouldn't send a defective weapon to me. I have not heard of ANY issue about this anywhere. I have contacted Kel-Tek tonight, but haven't gotten a reply. Is this a legitimate claim or is this guy jerking me around?

I am starting to think the same thing too! I found this on Gun Deals online and they said they had them in stock. I am not thinking he was jerking me around. I am going to cancel the order and not mess with this anymore. This is a major pain in the butt. If they can't be honest, I don't want to even deal with them. Thanks for the input.

Hello Everyone,
Just for your information, there are a lot of recall serial number lists out there that have been posted on FB and other places. For a printable list that is up-to-date and correct, use the one on the Kel-Tek website or just type in the serial number on the recall link to find out. I looked on one of the older lists and my number was on it, so thought I was going to have to send it back, but then I checked the Kel-Tek site and it is NOT affected. Thanks.

That's if you send your Sub in to have Kel Tec install the parts. It should not apply to the recall if you're sending in a Sub that already has the parts installed. Many folks have sent their Subs in for warranty work that had aftermarket parts and Kel Tec has put them back in after performing the warranty service.

My wife's Sub is on the recall list and has almost every aftermarket MCARBO part they sell. No way am I removing all of that to send it in to Kel Tec for a problem of their own doing.

Mines on the list too.

Just picked it up before Christmas, only got to shoot it two weeks ago. Put 2 boxs through it, almost 100rds. Was more accurate then I expected, and also kicked harder then I expected for a 9mm. Not too hard for me, but I'll probably never get the wife to shoot it, which is who I bought it for, and why I got a 9 over the 40. She's pretty sensitive to the kick. So it'll be my toy, win/win.

I hate recalls. One of my Winchester rifles had to go in for a recall. Was supposed to be gone 2-3 weeks. Got it back in just over 1 week, no problems, even got a free rifle case out of the deal, but hated every bit of it. I trust the mail service(usps, ups, FedEx..you choose the brand) about as much as I trust our politicians.

Glad I haven't installed any of the new parts I got for it.

I doubt any recall FedEx labels will be sent until sufficient replacement barrels are in stock. Kel Tec knows the number involved.

Then expect them to go out in workable batches. From a manufacturing point of view this is a good practice and keeps the recalls from clogging up their facility. SIG did this with the P320 recall and was able to turn each batch around pretty quickly.

I've seen no source for a list of serials recalled. The website lets one enter a serial to see if it's affected. Mine is not but I'm curious the manufacturing date range of the carbines recalled.

Ok ... got my shipping label via email today. The Subby is on its way to the mothership.

Some notes regarding shipping:

The email indicates you have a choice. You don't. Print the label and carry it to a Fedex Shipping Center. The "Shipping Centers" do not have the capacity to scan the barcode and print the label as the email instructions suggest. The copy/print/ship locations can scan the barcode, but they are not supposed to take firearms through those locations. Kel Tec listed contents as machine parts, so you will probably get away with using the copy/print/ship locations if you like living dangerously.

I'm happy to be in-progress.
