Whenever possible folks please include descriptions, part numbers, and how to's when you post pics. *Pics are the primary reason for this thread, but it helps cut down on a page of discussion on "what is that?", "how did you do that?", and "where did you get that?". *That will then become a discussion on calibers, magazines, etc, etc. *If you do have a question for a particular member please try to PM them or open a topic in the Sub 2000 general forum with their name in the title asking your question *

I thought it might be a good idea to sticky a picture post in this section, with the various scope/sight mods, and any other adaptations users have done to their Subs. *This way new or prospective Sub owners would have a quick look at what can be done with this wunnerful little weapon. *Atlasx, here's a place to show your scope mount, Mod_man your pigsticker, rjhauser's Hubble telescope, and others to name a few. *Bring out the pics! * ;D

Since there has been so much interest lately in what can be done to the Sub 2000, and I have answered questions from 3 different threads on what I did to mine, I thought I might show the evolution of each step I took. *I'll try to remember to list parts for each Mk. *Prices listed will be estimates of what I spent without shipping.
Green is good money
Yellow is iffy (Most are no longer in use)
Red is what I consider too expensive or a bad purchase, even if I'm still using it (Like the Trijicon)

;D

MkI
KT rail ($20)
KT sling ($15)
Panther tactical flashlight and switch ($30)
Picatinny mount bipod from CDNN ($20)
TDI short vertical grip ($20)
M4 butt pad zip tied to stock ($10)

Cool basic Sub with some useful add ons

MkII
UTG 5 slot tri-rail x 2 (creates quad rail) ($25 x 2)
UTG 2 slot tri-rail (front sight mount base) ($15)
Yankee Hill Machine 1/2" scope riser (9490) ($15)
Yankee Hill Machine 7" rail extension (now 6" 9473) ($37)
Yankee Hill Machine folding front (9627) and rear (9680) sights ($90 each)
BSA Multi dot reflex sight ($60)

Note the lack of forearm. *I did this to get the 7" rail nearer to the rear sight area. *Fired with it in this configuration ONE time. *Burned hand when I carelessly grabbed the barrel to set it down after rapid firing a 15 rd magazine. *That and the fact that the tri-rail - while holding zero - shifted back on the barrel during recoil from multiple shots. *I also found out during this time that the barrel nut is held in place by pressure from the forearm, so there needs to be a forearm in place!

MkIII
KT short forearm ($25)
ATN Compact digital reflex sight ($130)
A.R.M.S #36™ S-Ex AR-10 OSR Swan® Sleeve ($99)

This was the look I was going for. *The ATN sight even looks scale to the Sub to me, and co-witnessed nicely with the AR sights. *The KT forearm holds the tri-rail well against recoil, and removed the idiotic need to grab that area of the barrel. *I removed the BSA NOT because it didn't work well, but because it sat so tall on the rail I was afraid to carry the weapon slung this way without damaging the sight. *The Sub stayed in this configuration for most of last summer

MkIV
Trijicon RX-01 reflex sight ($400)
KT mag holder ($11)
Surefire G2 Nitrolon light ($38)

The Trijicon fell into my lap late August 06. *I had some disposable O/T at the time, and it was purpose built for this specific AR rail/sight combo, so I had to have it! *It didn't hurt that it doesn't need batteries (the ATN was dead on my first range trip with it, because I'd accidentally left it on at the house). *I hadn't planned on a KT mag holder, but again one came up for about half normal cost, so I got it. *The Surefire was an easy choice due to company reputation, a reasonable price ($39), and it fit in a 1" scope mount which I had plenty of laying around. *It's easily activated with the forefinger of my front hand, without releasing the grip. * Momentary on with knuckle, or use finger to roll the rear cap 90 to the right and it's always on.

MkIVa
Blackhawk double stack mag holder (410600 double stack), ($16 x 2)

I can now hang 60 rounds worth of regular magazines off or in various parts of it. *The balance and weight are still surprisingly manageable. *And it still slings okay.

With a Simmons 2X scope for a little more precise shooting. *The Trijicon resides on it the rest of the time. *I've also added L4E's Tacticool stock tube cover, and bolt charging handle. *Nice products.

Please don't think I'm being pretentious. *It's just been a fun project over the past year, and I kind of enjoyed it

Went and done it again!

I found these while looking for something else (http://www.blackhawk.com/).  Ordered 2 and have modified one so far.  Took me most of this evening, a sharp knife, some needle files, and a couple punctures in my hand (they'll heal).  When all is said and done, IF the full mags up there aren't too heavy, I'll have stored 60 rds of magazine on and in the weapon.

On the left as received.  On the right after mod.  It was NOT an exact picatinny width, so I had to remove material from both sides as well as the raised area down the center.

Mounted to the left side of the quad rail.

I believe you could even use the long magazines with this rig, but again there would be the extra weight to consider.  Finally filled up my rail space, unless of course I finally take the plunge and put a NV device on the top for the reflex sight.

;D

Mag pouches

The mag pouches were put to the minor test at the mini Blast this Saturday.  No magazines fell out during general gun line handling.  We tried 2 of TxC's 33 rd mags in them and they ended flush with the rear of the forearm.  Over half of the long mag was setting out of the pouch, so I don't know how well they would hold up to a fully loaded 33 rounder.

For anyone curious about the sight arrangement, It was hitting clay skeet disks against a berm at about 115 yds consistently, after I figured out to hold about one disk high on the target.   Those are fun to shoot and give instant feedback at that range.  Thanks for bringing them KTC.  8)

Re: Sub porn pictures

Although this Sub is not 100% complete, I'm ready to show you what I've come up with so far. FYI, the aimpoint is a clone.

As this post is for Sub Porn, I'll make a separate post for critique and give more detailed pictures.

Re: Sub porn pictures

Nakano, have you looked at the Tacticool.com stuff?  He has a tube cover that stays within the lines of the collars on the tube.  Quite comfortable actually.  And reasonably priced.  You just need to remove the stock to put it on.   :)

Re: Sub porn pictures

Here's my toy with a scope mount I made for it.  The mount is a removeably design i made.  It uses pegs to hold it's position with a thumb screw on the side.  So far it seems to hold its zero even after removal and re-attachment.  No pics of targets yet, but at 50yards it kills bottles caps!!!

Wish I'd bought the High scope rings... The medium were just barely to low to clear the rear sight so I just folded it down.

Re: Sub porn pictures

Well, here she is. Got it to the point that I want to show it off, but it is no where near complete. As it is:

Four quad rails to make up fore end.
UtG rail covers (that don't come close to being O.D. green like I wanted)
Surefire G2L (led version)
Low ring mount for flashlight mount
Folding vertical grip (houses 2 123a's for flashlight)
Folding rear sight
Custom welded single point sling mount made from a 1" scope ring
Blackhawk single point sling (bungee!)
Painted factory buttstock
Tons of G17 magazines, which I prefer over 31rd (I have two of them)

What I want to do next:
Blue Force front sight when they ship
Custom barrel shroud the help hold forend (Can't wait to show you all that one!)
Aimpoint clone red dot sight on cantilever style mount to lower 1/3rd co-witness
Fitted hardcase for it and it's companion G17
MORE MAGS!

Re: Sub porn pictures

I took these with my web camera off my Macbook Pro. All I had. I lighted them as best I could. New Blue Force Gear front sight. Laser/light on the rail.

M16 style sight post.

I was happy when I folded it and it actually worked.

You can see the cut out that the latch detent slides into and locks it folded.

The picatiny rail looks pretty good on it. You can also see the three allen screws that hold it on.

Re: Sub porn pictures

Here is a coyote tan paint job using Aluma Hyde II.  The thing is, I degreased the parts before painting and let it sit for seven days in a hot shed.  I am still able to scrape paint off with my fingernail.  I guess it needs to cure longer.  I don't plan to shoot it anytime soon so I'll just let it sit until I do.  Hopefully it will harden better.

Re: Sub porn pictures

Added a sling and forgrip.  Tried my little pistol tac light and it worked pretty well but won't use it on the SUB.  I ended up moving the forgrip forward about an inch after I took these pictures.  I'll end up putting a proper light on the forward end of the rail and a laser on a barrel mount.
