Actually it does solve two problems.
1. Those of us above a certain age will have an easier time picking up the front sight through the slightly larger peep hole
2. For those whose front sight is bottomed out and their carbine is still shooting low (me), it will effectively raise the strike of the bullet up.
Since I haven’t purchase one (I’m waiting for their optical sight mount and compensator, then I’ll buy them all at once) I can’t say for certain it will work for sure. But it’s certainly worth a try.
The closer you can get your eye to the rear sight the larger it is effectively. Think "nose to charging handle" as in the M16.
If you have a specific problem with the carbine shooting low and you're out of front sight travel then a higher rear sight will help but I'm curious what range you're zeroing at as it seems most of the reports I've read here indicate the sights are spot on at about 20-25 meters (mine was) which produces a good battlesight out beyond 50-75 meters. It is easy to reduce the height of the M16 front sight post -- what the Sub2000 uses is this part and replaceable at any gun show for a few bucks. Put it all the way down, grab your file and start reducing the height to increase elevation. If you go too far you can bring it back up again and bring point of impact down.
Pistol bullets, even fired from carbines are ineffective beyond this range. Will certainty kill beer cans though but that's not my purpose with this weapon.

The 9mm shot from a Sub 2000 is lethal out to around 400 yards. Most cannot see well enough to shoot accurately at this distance but, the 9mm is still deadly.
Go to UTube and type in "how far will a 9mm kill".

You sure you didn't reverse that again? Smallest ring is an X, followed by a 10, then 9, then 8, and so on. Supported you would probably be shooting a tighter group and that would keep them in the 8. Unsupported they would probably open up a bit.
Please define "lethal." The .22LR is "lethal" but not usually right away on human targets. Instant incapacitation is the goal, not "lethality." What's the penetration of a 9mm bullet at that range? I've no data but it's barely adequate at 25 yards.
I have no idea what a "6 ring" may be. If you're keeping them all in the center chest ring of this target you're doing fine. The ring really isn't apparent unless you look closely, same for the head area.
Oh, I’m sorry Chuck, but apparently my age is showing. My references to rings are from using the standard NRA pistol bullseye target. A bit old fashioned, but it was (and to me still is) a common reference.
I know most folks do use a torso type target nowadays, and I do as well. The problem arises with a common reference, as no two torso targets seen to share common dimensions, hence the NRA bull.
Concur. These are pistol range carbines with a much better probability of hits.
It was "boo's" comment regarding letality at 400 meters (or was it yards). Pistol (and rifle) bullets are rarely instantly lethal and seldom actual lethal, otherwise combat medics would have nothing to do. I recently sat on a jury in an attempted murder case. One drug dealer shot his buddy a good half dozen times from point blank range including standing over him as he lay in the street. Lethal? Nope. Attempted murder, not murder. Caliber? Funny you asked. That "fatal at 400 meters" 9mm.
I'm still wondering wether 1/16" provides actual fahrfignewton (sp?) gains. I'm new to this sub thing with 'bout 200 rounds fired in one range visit. I did consistently hit an 8" plate at 100 yards with the factory irons, but mounting this thing and finding my sight picture happens in super slow motion. The sub deploys from folded almost as fast as I can rack a pistol slide and this puts the smack down on the new competition from Ruger. But ... I feel like an agressor I needed to stop could close most of those 100 yards by the time I achieved a sight picture.
So my Sub is a favored range toy till I get faster - much faster. Any chance of a 1/16" improvement substantially improving my time-to-sight-picture? This is what I'm wanting you guys that have these sights in hand to discuss. Please and thank you.
Anybody near Houston ... I'd love to meet you at a range to try for myself.
I just put the M Carbo Folding rear sight on mine and really like it! You get a different sight picture through the bigger aperture, of course...the entire curved lower part of the front sight is now visible...and I found it much easier to focus on that front sight, making me more accurate.
Interestingly...not. I've only had my gun a few weeks and my sights were off (it was shooting low) before installing the folding rears . I didn't mess with them because I knew I was going to get these from M Carbo. So...I just focused on sighting in my Venom and Strike Eagle the first few times to the range.
Yesterday was my first day at the range with the new M Carbo sight and...it was dead-on accurate!
So...expect to have to adjust the front (upward). The peep aperture IS higher on the MC sight. I just got lucky. Oh...and make sure you have an AR front sight tool. Otherwise, it is nightmare to adjust that front sight.
I bought the new rear sight last week and took it to the range. I adjusted my front post two full rotations higher prior to heading to the range. Once I began to zero it in, I had to move two additional notches. I also found I had to adjust windage as my shots were now left of target. I would have liked a bit more height to the new sight but the larger aperture definitely improves target acquisition. Big problem I had was the sight creeping down on me. I had to flip it up after every 3-4 shots. Took it home and reinstalled using more Locktite hoping to keep it in place. But haven't been able to get back to the range to see if it's stable. I'll be heading out this weekend and can update then.

Hope that fixed it for you. I ordered one of their standard rear sights and haven't installed it yet because I'm waiting on Kel-Tec to send me my rifle. If it won't stay up I'll not install it and sell it,
Just got back from the range. Great sight pic. Don't have to bear down to get on sights . More fun. MCARBO great company. Really takes sub 2000 to another level.
Hmmm... Mine is a gen 1 with the orange front blade. I'm not sure I'd see any advantage. Still, I love their spring kits that I've used. The kit I installed in my SU-16C definitely improved my accuracy.
I have ordered the (peep) sight and pro performance trigger kit. I should have everything installed and rounds down range by a week from Saturday. This is going in/on a gen 1 (Glock .40). I have already added a KT quad rail and a Red Lion front sight. I verified with M*Carbo that there shouldn't be a problem. The parts look good. If there are any issues with the sight I will advise.
