Just bought these, hope they work well together. Anyone else use this combo? I'll still use my scope mostly, but this could be fun for close range paper shooting.
Front sight post doesn't fit. Will need to sand or grind it down a little. The circular part is just a hair too big...the part that the sight tool grabs if that makes sense.
If it did it wasn't by much. But..I usually like 99% of the time only use my scope anyway. So I may not have ever given it a full chance. I do like it better than the stock front post thing, but shooting at 100 yards is too difficult without a scope, and that's usually the distance I shoot at. I don't like shooting rifle rounds much closer than that unless I am shooting paper. Metal targets are way more fun
If I had to do it again I wouldn't waste my money on the new sights as the scope is pretty much all I use. If I were to use this gun mostly without a scope...then it would be worth it.
Hope that helps if you are considering getting them.
I'm a big fan of Vortex optics... I have a Crossfire II on my PLR-16. It's 6-24x magnification which is plenty for shooting 100-200 yards. Eye relief isn't too bad...it's not a pistol scope though. I use a bipod and shoot from the bench mostly. With the little recoil of the gun it works pretty well.
BTW there’s two versions of this peep sight, there’s a flat version and a hooded version. The flat version is about as thin as a penny while the hooded version is like the thickness of three stacked quarters. The hooded version does a better job of protecting the crosshairs but can be harder to see in bright sunlight. I run a few of them on ARs & an AK, nice sights, especially with a rear peep or a Troy DOA rear sight.
But the can be a PITA to adjust, and can only be adjusted a half turn, not a quarter turn like the factory post. I got a cheap metal sight tool from NC Star and cut off two prongs and filed the insides out to fit. If you use pliers to adjust it, be careful with the hooded sight, I chewed up the finish on the outer edges of mine and had to touch it up after dialing it in.
Shooting double liters of soda pop with my scoped AR15 and my PLR16. The Kel Tec was spot on at distance. The SUB2000 held her own and my Ruger Blackhawk in 9mm was impressive at distance.
Im trying to keep the weight down on my PLR and I have a spare RMR laying around so that's what i'll probably put on it...my whole goal was to have a 5lb or less AR for a "trunk monkey".
always wondered about those...thought it might be too busy for its own good. glad you confirmed it.
