Default Sub 2000 safety button issues

Hi everyone. I just got my sub 2k yesterday and took it to the range today to test it out. I love it but...

When I fire a round the safety button moves just a little bit from fire to safe which engages the safety making it unable to operate. It doesn't go all the way to safe just about half way. I have to take the safety off every time I fire it.

Does anyone else have this problem? It there a way I can fix it or do I need to send it back to Kel Tec?

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Work the button back and forth a few dozen times to get it loosened up. It should fully click in to the off position, and you probably just have a sticky part from assembly.

As 3wbdriver said it might not be getting fully into the safe position.
A little CLP might help.

I picked my new s2K a few weeks ago an sound the same issue first time at the range.

Was taking about 3 rounds of recoil for mine to rattle over to safe.

I'm going to follow the suggestions here and see what happens the next time out.

I had the same problem tonight. First time out at the range with my new Sub. At first I thought there was a feed problem, but no, the gun performed flawlessly but I had to hold the safety in the "fire" position with my thumb while shooting. This is freaking annoying and I don't think that wiggling it back and forth is going to solve it...will try though.

Please post up if any of you figure this out or find that the problem solves itself.

3WB and billygoat have made good suggestions. You can also take a look at the link below. The OP of the link below, and I had similar issues as you are all having.

Me, personally, I ended up having to open the receiver and clean/light lube and put everything back together. Unfortunately, none of the "quick" solutions worked for me.

I have only been a gun owner for about 1.5 years. If I was able to take apart the receiver and internals and then put it back together, anyone can. Just follow the disassembly instructions in the FAQ. (I think that FAQ link also got reposted in the link below.) As a 'security blanket' I took pictures of the internals before each step - although the link has the pictures you would need.

They will tell you 6 weeks over the phone. But that is their standard answer until they see the gun. It simply varies based on how many they have in for repair, and what the problem may be.

I'm going to send this to a local smith. I'm not waiting on KT.
