Default Cheap practice ammo question-

I was wondering if someone could tell me what is the cheapest yet highest quality 9mm ammo available right now that can be shot through the Sub? My only experience with cheap ammo has been Remington UMC and Winchester White Box so far. Though reliable, the Winchester turned *the area I was shooting at an indoor range into a smokescreen, causing me and everyone around me to be uncomfortable. The Remington was much cleaner in this aspect but hard to find in bulk right now. I know there is CCI Blazer Brass, Wolf, PMC, and others so if anyone could chime in I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

I shoot either WWB or UMC, mostly WWB. If there was something cheaper at Wal-Mart I'd probably shoot that.

We also have the Blazer Brass down here at Wally World, and it's slightly cheaper than WWB. But I put it about on par with WWB for cleanliness too. It does shoot fine.

I haven't shot my Sub2k yet, but I have used WWB in my Glock numerous times in the past. I have no complaints and when the weather clears up, I have a supply of rounds built up so that I may go shoot some WWB through the Sub and my Glock. I've shot CCI Blazer through other pistols and .22 rifles in the past. I will not buy CCI Blazer again unless I must. My experience with CCI Blazer ammo was really dirty and I had numerous jams.

If you are referring to Blazer Aluminum, KT specifically says not to use it in the subbie.

I recently bought some Blazer Brass at WM for $8.97 per 50. I have not tried it in my subbies but assume it would work fine. I shot a few mags through a P11 and P89. It worked fine.

I have shot WWB, Blazer Brass, and S&B. *Out of the three, the dirtiest was S&B, followed by BB. *WWB was actually the cleanest of the three...FWIW this is also the order from least expensive +/- $0.10.....All three shot fine BTW...YMMV

The last time I shot mu sub, it was Blazer brass....I really liked it, though the Wally World near me doesn't have it any more....

Thanks for the replies, but as I mentioned in my original post, I was trying to get away from the WWB stuff, and probably the Blazer as well (both dirty ammo). I had success with the Remington UMC that I shot but it is very hard to find in the affordable bulk packs right now.

I did some research in some other forums and it seems that Fiocchi and Federal American Eagle are the cleanest overall as far as cheaper FMJ ammo goes. Looking online I saw that I can buy these in bulk for within $1 of the WWB and Blazer ammo, so this is what I'll try out next. I'll post my results after my next trip to the range.

I've read the warning on KT's website, but what is the reason for this? *Is there a safety concern, or is it just a function and reliablity thing?

Aluminum cased ammo must be fully supported by the chamber until the charge is completely burned off. *Blowback actions don't allow for this. *[s]They[/s] Firearms manufacturers found out the hard way using it in blowback submachine guns. *Best to just not even try it.
