Default DHS to Use 135 Gr. .40 S&W Ammo

D.H.S. has issued a Winchester "Ranger" loading in .40 S&W consisting of a 135 grain J.H.P.

135 grain is the preferred load for my p40. Federal *RHT for practice, Nostler JHP for carry.

BTW, DHS? I didn't know that Dept of Human Services carried weapons but I guess those social workers have to go in some pretty tough neighborhoods. ;D

Add me to the list. Thanks to Dale for turning me on to these a couple of years ago. Bought quite a few boxes of Fed JHPs at 50 cents on the dollar. Still have a few left.

I think (hope) he was yanking your chain.

IIRC I seem to remember reading somewhere DHS settled on the Sig P239 in .40 as the standard issue. A lighter recoil load would make sense with this gun for controlling follow up shots. And the 135 still delivers higner numbers in the FPE deparment than 115gr or 124gr 9mm although it's not quite as hard hitting (in FPE) as 147gr
