Default Kel Tec PF-9 vs Kahr CM9 vs Ruger LC9

Hey everybody,

I'm in the market for a small 9mm handgun to carry on me 24/7. It's gotta be something that is

1. reliable
2. accurate
3. concealable
4. comfortable to shoot
5. affordable

What are your experiences with the pf9, cm9, and lc9 handguns? Which would you recommend most? Why?

I must agree with Toney. I had a pf 9 and had nothing but trouble out of the gun. I eventually purchased a cm9 and it has been flawless. I love kel tec and their innovative designs but the kahr 9mm pistols are superior to the pf9.

Of course there's that pesky issue, price. Kahr has a great rep, the PF9 is a bit easier to carry than either. I've shot the Ruger LC9, (makes the PF9 trigger seem like a competition 1911), I haven't shot the CM9. The two main selling points for the PF9 are the size and price. I'm sure if it cost $100-250 more, it would be that much better.

CM9 without doubt.
The PF is the only KT I have no desire to own...I’ve passed on more than one.
The LC9 has a few flaws IMO...

It's a Ruger
It has a safety
It has a loaded chamber billboard

of your choices - the only one I tried was the LC9 - a bit harsh - not an all day at the range gun; I have the S&W Shield in 9mm
1. reliable ----- yes
2. accurate --- yes
3. concealable --- yes
4. comfortable to shoot --- very much so
5. affordable --- ? $425 for the Shield ... MSRP: for the Kahr $517.00 their website

I have 2 LC9s and they meet everything you have asked for. I have close to 800 rounds thru the one I shoot, and its been perfect. The trigger is similar to a Double Action revolver, and I dont find it a problem at all. I find it comfortable to shoot at the range, but it is somewhat snappy. I would buy another if needed. Its one to consider. If you buy one and simply hate the trigger, there are parts from Galloway to shorten the travel by almost half. I haven't felt the need to mod mine, as I like to carry safety off and rely the longer pull as the safety

If you're willing to plunk down $400 on an LC9, go with the Shield. I got mine for $390 + Tax.
As already mentioned, the Shield covers ALL the criteria you listed.

I wouldn't recommend an LC9 (for all the reasons Rubb Listed.
The Shield has an external safety, but the stock trigger is just firm enough to not need it.
