Default 1911 Flat Recoil Spring Question

When switching to a flat recoil spring for a 45ACP 1911, what is the correct spring weight?

I know that the standard weight for a round wire spring is 16lbs. Some say use a 16lbs flat wire and others say go lower. What do y'all think?
